Visceral Games, the people behind creepy-as-crap sci-fi horror game Dead Space have vowed not to cheapen Dead Space, but say they've mapped out "plenty" of games in that universe. The focus is on quality, not quantity, so don't look for an iPod Dead App or Dead Space: Kart Racing Challenge any time soon, unless they are awesome.
"I'd like to make, like, a thousand Dead Space games if people want them," executive producer Steve Papoutsis said at EA's recent spring showcase in London.
"That's the big thing, right? Just like with anything, you get to a point where it's like, 'ah, another one?' We don't ever want that to happen with Dead Space. So we're going to take it one step at a time.
"We've mapped out plenty of games worth of stuff. But there has to be an interest, right? We don't want to cheapen what we're doing. We're really focused on quality with it. Hopefully if people like this one, we get to make another one."
Dead Space 2 comes out on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC early next year, and if it aproaches the level of creepy, eerie dread of the first game, I suggest pre-ordering as soon as you can.

dead space 2 already seems to have Isaac seem more outspoken if you haven't seen the trailer it seems that Isacc will have more character development this time
Oh and Dead Space is scary as hell

If you had a decent screen and sound system, Dead Space was very effective at creating moments of fear, tension, and suspense. What it lacked was a strong narrative and better character development. It was very difficult to sympathize with Isaac Clarke, Nicole Brennan, Doctor Terrence Kyne, or any of the other characters in the game.
Also, Dead Space had too much focus on action. The action had too much to do with blowing things up and dismembering things. Issac is suppose to be an engineer and not a bad ass. As a result, Isaac Clarke became too disconnected with the player. Dead Space became more of hack and slash gore fest instead of a sophisticated, survival horror game.
I hope Visceral strengthens the horror aspects of the game and improves on its faults in the next installment.

Dead space, to me, wasnt that scary or really grand.
The graphics of the main guy and the monsters looked great, but the other humans...i couldnt ignore how badly rendered they were. It bordered on PS2 looking graphics for some and for others, just horrible textures. I know it wasnt the focus of the game, but its like playing crysis and seeing half the Korean guys looking like i ripped them from the original crytek engine

I agree with the comment above. DS wasn't that creepy. Dead Space had its moments that creeped you out , like when a monster comes out and says "Boo," Or when that crazy fast monster comes after you...that guys was freakkkky! Or when you're going down the hallway and a giant tentical grabs you..... or when that song Twinkle Twinkle was being sung (what was that?!?!?!) now that I think about it...I disagree with the statement above....Dead Space is pretty creepy! GIVE ME A SECOND ONE WITH DIFFERENT SCARES, DIFFERENT BOSSES, DIFFERENT LEVELS....oh they're working on all of that.......DEAD SPACE 2 FTW!

As much as i loved dead space, I was never really scared. The atmosphere and pace were amazing, but I never quite felt a sense of dread. Then again, I figured out the easiest way to kill a necromorph was to shoot off a diagonal set of limbs within the first level.

The first dead space was one of the most genuine scary games I ever played, can't wait for the next one.

I hope this means another Wii version. Extraction got me into the series but I have no means of playing the other titles.
