We've been fortunate enough to have had copies of Alan Wake for a few weeks now, which means our opinions have had plenty of time to percolate, which we now serve to you in this week's freshly-brewed episode of Feedback. The E3 vortex has opened up early this year and sucked Adam away into a dimension of pain and crummy continental breakfasts, so Patrick's in the driver seat for the discussion, with Abbie, Sterling, and Steve riding along. See how we'd review Bright Falls on Yelp, as well as new details on Call of Duty: Black Ops.
And in other news...
- The April NPD sales numbers are out, and it wasn't the prettiest of pictures. What's behind the sluggish sales? And is Red Dead Redemption, Alan Wake, and Super Mario Galaxy 2 going to jumpstart the summer?
- It seems as if Sony is debating whether or not to turn PlayStation Network into a premium service -- or at least, parts of it. Once again, we ask what's worth paying for in the realm of online services.
- A viewer would like to know how and when a game's story can keep it afloat when the actual game part kind of stinks. Chances of us mentioning Deadly Premonition again: 100%, Zach.
Feedback: Distracted by random coffee thermoses since 2009.

Well done , guys (and gal) I have only played maybe 2 of the titles they mentioned (never even looked at RE5...after playing all previous RE titles) because of a lack of time...I am curious as to how Activision will choke the life out of another franchise (see Enemy Territory/Wolfenstein) only the first few COD games were worth the money..the MW games just had no feel...Quake Wars was a broke joke...as a hard-core PC FPS guy, console games just don't have the backbone...console games remind me of way-back-when...we'd take breaks from fragging each other in the same room (Descent/Doom 2) by going to the Arcade (yes, they really existed) and playing Cyberball and ...gasp ...Galaga...lmao!

Hey there, I'm kind of hoping to eventually get a comment read on the show, dunno how well that's going to turn out though. On the topic of Red Dead Redemption, I just finished this game earlier tonight, and I was really shocked with the closing moments of the game. Without going into a spoiler, do you guys at Feedback believe game developers are going to continue this recent trend of shocking game endings, the kind that leave your jaw on the floor because you just didn't believe that could happen to the main character? o.O

Machines growing into converged media, Sterling? You mean like a PC?

Just finished Alan Wake, bravo Remedy! What a masterpiece of a game!
Everyone who owns an xbox owes it to themselves to give this game a playthrough.
Been a follower of G4 for ages, and i can honestly say that i never disagreed with a game score that has been given.
But really guys, a 4/5....?
Nowadays we have so few original IP's, in the land of mediocre sequels & franchises being milked dry,... someone finally comes out with an outstanding game in a largely untouched genre and it gets a 4/5. Shame.

Wow.. Who hired you guys. You have no idea of gaming. Fire these people. You guys never finish games or even play the multiplayars. Please quit and bring people in who real play games. You guys are all industy butt kissers. So quit already cause you have no idea about gaming. Sad.

What is it bout RE5 that you dont like? The AI was ok, to be honest any better and the game would be so easy. The game is great, RE 4 for Gamecube is still the best.

A game with bad mechanics that comes to mind is Armed and Dangerous on the Xbox and PC. Terrible Graphics, Repetitive game play, But hell I wanted to play through that game because it is funny as hell.
ellobo29
story over gameplay? advent rising comes to mind,,,,,
jonman247
Just so everyone knows, I wasn't calling Alan Wake a bad game or even a bad gameplay experience, I was just using it as a segue.
Because I'm cool like that...
Petrosis
Although Patrick talks the most, I always wait to hear what Abbie has to say. I like her input and views. And Sterling - I like how you think.

On paid subscription fees for PS3:
I don't play PS3 but I have a friend who does and I have used his system for long enough to see a bit of what they offer. If I was Sony I would use they subscription fee to access a clan system, to be able to take part in official tournaments or make a system where you can set up a tournament (including clan warfare), and get access to beta's. If you are dedicated enough to participate in clans or to participate in a tournament then you are probably dedicated enough to pay to participate in that clan or tournament. Also if you care enough to play beta's or you have any desire to play a beta you can pay a little money up front and you can have access to any beta you want (beta != [does not equal] demo)
On a game that doesn't succeed in game play but does in story:
PC gamers don't kill me I'm one of you. But some parts of Half Life 2 just didn't work with me. I got stuck on one part where you have to open a door but I kept getting attacked by antlions and Alyx was useless as a protector so I put the game down for about a month until I was told how to cover the antlion holes with a car. About Resident Evil 5: I beat that with a friend and I know what you mean about game play failures. I was getting to a point where I was going to throw my controller through a window since it takes at least (and I counted) 8 button presses to reload when you aren't out of ammo.
Sorry this comment was so long.

Abbie, buy a cover for your phone. And nice to her answering Adam's call.

Kudos to the Feedback poster for not falling down this week!
I just finished a second play through of Nier, and it's totally one of those games I never would have finished if not for the story and atmosphere. If you play a newgame+, you get to see all these cool new cutscenes before and after boss battles which shine a completely new light on everything and ties in with what you learned at the ending.... but it's so damn tedious ... I don't think I'm spoiling anything by saying the last parts of Nier are about 75% backtracking .... If I have to visit that Lost Shine ONE MORE TIME... It's a classic case of there just not being enough game to hold the story.
Anyway, there are two more alternate endings, but I just can't muster the patience to get to them...not to mention you have to collect all the weapons in the game to unlock them to begin with...
