What's wilder than the actual Wild West? Why, the online multiplayer version via Rockstar Games' Red Dead Redemption. It's been out for only a day but I'm sure your friends list is riddled with wannabe digital cowboys like myself. The pressing matter at hand, what's your take on the multiplayer of RDR? Inquiring fellow nerd minds would love to know. Gripes, praises... dastardly acts like this? Let us know.

Worse multiplayer i've played since Splinter Cell Double Agent, and im still playing Splinter cell... Since I've already beaten the single player (have the game of the year edition) im going to be trading this in to get some much needed in store credit for some worth while multiplayers like borderlands 2 or Halo 4. I haven't played a game that made me acutally punch a middle finger into the disc (till now) just hoping that the producer for the mult would feel it. I hope he did....

The multiplayer experience is just plain horrible. The controls are clunky as hell, as with every Rockstar game, non-hardcore with auto-aim is so uncompetitive an autistic gorilla could play it and win. Hardcore is barely worth the time.
Overall, I think the gang shoot out thing isn't what makes this fun.
Am I the only person who thinks the controls are an issue?

there is a endless loading screen bug when entering or exiting multplayer sometimes

as soon as i connected i got killed and called a noob... the game just came out... it was the first day.... everyone is a noob lol... but once i killed some people to unlock good guns early it was real fun, waiting for my friend to get it then make a posse

This is one of the best games Rockstar has put out to date. The multi-player is severely buggy though. 4 friends and myself spent over an hour just trying to get into the same free roam (both public and private). Is this something on Rockstar's end that needs to be remedied? I was under the impression that private games weren't subject to server issues.

Multiplayer is awesome.
Me and my Posse Free Roam a lot, accept chalanges and stuff. I love the caves in the snowy mountians but got killed by a bear, but I did kill one bear, about 5 dear, skunk, wolves, etc.
Love invading hideouts, cool game, very social if you have friends on, just ride and check stuff out.

asthmagasm i am tring to agree. but it's not like a game at this level comes every day, i didn't accure those things odd. tho you live closer to a server then me for better pings. but from what you're saying i have no idea

Can some one explan to me why you cannot sit on blastered chair in red dead redemption. you can sit in ps3 home. you can sit in fall out 3. you can sit in oblivion tho its not online. but why not red dead redemtion. it wouldn'y be huge thing to fix but it would be cool sitting in tavern with 3 friends. and be challenged to a stand off. think of it as halo tea bag. tho rdr is master peice no point placing a chair in with no way to use it

This game is amazing! i love the MP but the free roam bugs need to be fixed ASAP. I cant complete the pikes basin gang mission because when i plant the bomb to blow up the cates i just get stuck. Does this happen to everyone else? I also cant stand people treating free roam like its a deathmatch and persist on killing you when you spawn. You get way more XP teaming up and taking on the gang hideouts.

Is anyone at G4 going to bring up the problems with the online play for all the PS3 players?
maybe pressure rockstar to get it fixed faster?
it played fine during the day yesterday, but got glitchy early in the evening...same issues today.

Same things have happened to me as did to chantler and asthmagasm. Was playing RDR multiplayer last night and today (PS3) and it seems that when you leave a town area, there's a pretty good chance that both you and your horse (if you're riding one) will disappear. You will only reappear if you cross this "invisible line" that encompasses a town. Also had it where I would be attacked by invisible animals and shot at by invisible gangs. Very weird issue. When it does work, multiplayer is amazing. Tons of fun shooting others, trying to unlock... whatever. Once I'm finished with my homework for the day, I'll def be jumping back on. Bugs or not, the game is still awesome.

I'm glad to see they included the "Twin Rocks" level from "Red Dead Revolver", hope they have more references throughout campaign and multiplayer.

Multiplayer is practically unplayable on the 360 for me. Forced disconnects every 10-15 minutes. Freezing when trying to do challenges. Random kicks to the Dashboard and never ending loading screens (longest I've waited is 15 minutes; maybe I should have waited longer....). Graphical dropouts including character, character editor (can't see anything you're choosing), PCs engaged in combat, NPCs engaging you in combat, horses, stagecoaches, weapons, wildlife that can attack you, and I'm sure the list continues. If they fix this, then it will be great. The few stretches I had last night that actually lasted about 30 minutes were absolutely fantastic and a blast, but considering I've put about 4 hours into TRYING to play multiplayer and actually gotten to play about 50 minutes total, this is one of the biggest disappointments I've ever had with a game.

i usually play the entire campaign before hitting MP, but i decided to log on and see what it was all about a half hour ago... and i must say, its going to be hard jumping back to single player. even worse, i have to go to work in ten minutes. all i can think about is ranking up and getting a better horse. way more fun than gta's multi.
chantler
I had a terrible time last night (launch night). I pop'ed in the game and started tinkering with the multi player options, and everything was good. Then when in MP my gun, horse, me, and even the other players and enemies kept disappearing. Most of the time it was just the guns that weren't there, which sucked the most cause now I cant pick up new weapons or get ammo for my guns, it also mad the trowing knives useless for some reason and I really like them too. The whole MP was glitchy and crashy, which ruined my night, I was trying to play with my friends and it kept crashing! I love the game, it is awesome but I may have to take it back on principle. If one aspect of the game doesn't work then I feel like I was ripped off... I just want to play cowboys with my friends.

mittens1231
yo, how do you draw your gun?
timtam25
i have only reached lv 4 on multiplayer but i must say, the action is great even when it is only a 1v1. I love running around in free roam killing my friends. Can't wait to try the horde-type mode with a bunch of my friends
FuzzofPekinopolis
Does anybody know if the system link is co-op campaign or versus or both? Wondering the same about the soon to come DLC?
