A sharp-eyed reader on the The Battlefront Community forums has a hackworthy program that allows him to peep behind the scenes and see the lobbies for games that are currently running through GameSpy. Recently, those include listings for Star Wars Battlefront 3 on the PS3, PC, Wii, and PSP. Does this mean we're finally going to get official word that the game is on the way?
The third entry in the popular Star Wars Battlefront series has flirted with an actual announcement for nearly two years now. As long ago as 2008, the game was "accidentally" listed on Amazon with a March 2009 release date for PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS and PSP. However, it was quickly yanked down. Then there was the artwork showing off an incredibly cool Sith version of Obi-Wan Kenobi.
That artwork was apparently from Free Radical Design, who was rumored to be working on the title. However, that came to an end when Free Radical had financial problems and shut down development. The game was rumored to have moved over to Pandemic, but they've also shuttered their doors. So what mystery developer is now working on the game?
Whoever it is, we're hoping there's a LucasArts announcement about the game at E3. It's been four years since Star Wars Battlefront 2 came out, and we've only had Renegade Squadron and Elite Squadron to feed the addiction, so it's about time.

So basically this isn't news. This post is just the same as we've already been reading. Internet / Fan hopefuls wishing for something, so if they talk about it.. it wil happen? "Oh we saw somebody say something on a board so it has to be true..." Sorry guys/gals. I dont mean to sound like a jerk. But I'm as excited about this as you all are, and just tired of all the let downs in the past.
Also, there's nothing said about the Xbox360 in the first paragraph about the new findings. If this is true, will it be for Xbox360 as well or just the systems mentioned?

We knew the game was in development by Radical when they got shut down....the question is: who the hell is working on it now?

I'd rather they do the game right than right after SWBFII. The series was fun on the PS2, but had so many issues with lag, controls and frame rate.

XBOX went in for repairs late last year. Dusted off the old PS2 and picked up Battlefront 2 and Shadow of the Colossus real cheap. Had these games before but traded most PS2 games when 360 came out. Battlefront 3 is definitely a must have title if in the right developers hands.

Battlefront 2 was in my ps2 for over 2 years straight and I played it every day. me want local 4 player.

I am so relieved that the 360 will be getting it too because when i first read the article i was like wtf, how could they put it on the wii and not on the 360 when the first two came out for the ps2 and xbox. I really want them to make Republic Commando 2 too. I heard that they were going to make it and that it was supposed to take place immedietly after everything that happened in episode 3 but since the first one didnt sell well they decided not to start developing the sequel and i hope they changed their minds.
The only thing im concerned about is their timing. Like others before me have said, it would have been better if they released it a couple of years after the second one instead waiting this long to make the 3rd because now they have to compete with all these other popular shooters that will be coming out soon like gears 3, halo reach, the new medal of honor and cod, (mag and killzone 2 have already come out but they are the best on the ps3), and battlefield 3. If they want SWBF3 to sell well they are going to have to do more than show off how its like battlefield with jedi like they did with the first two.

People. Remember. The reason there is no 360 stuff on that list is because Microsoft does NOT allow Gamespy to run the lobbies for any 360 game, MS does it themselves.

On second thought, I've head things like this before, years ago, it could be ages before anything official comes out, or it could be tomorrow, or never.
I don't understand why developers feel the need to keep upcoming titles a secret.

I've been scrounging for information on this game for the last few years,
I was afraid that It would only exist in my fondest wishes., I am so relived to find out it is still in development.
