A sharp-eyed reader on the The Battlefront Community forums has a hackworthy program that allows him to peep behind the scenes and see the lobbies for games that are currently running through GameSpy. Recently, those include listings for Star Wars Battlefront 3 on the PS3, PC, Wii, and PSP. Does this mean we're finally going to get official word that the game is on the way?
The third entry in the popular Star Wars Battlefront series has flirted with an actual announcement for nearly two years now. As long ago as 2008, the game was "accidentally" listed on Amazon with a March 2009 release date for PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS and PSP. However, it was quickly yanked down. Then there was the artwork showing off an incredibly cool Sith version of Obi-Wan Kenobi.
That artwork was apparently from Free Radical Design, who was rumored to be working on the title. However, that came to an end when Free Radical had financial problems and shut down development. The game was rumored to have moved over to Pandemic, but they've also shuttered their doors. So what mystery developer is now working on the game?
Whoever it is, we're hoping there's a LucasArts announcement about the game at E3. It's been four years since Star Wars Battlefront 2 came out, and we've only had Renegade Squadron and Elite Squadron to feed the addiction, so it's about time.

This game should be taken up by Tripwire Interactive for 3 reasons
1. The unreal engine would be epic for this game, which Tripwire knows and uses very well.
2. Tripwire Interactive will make the game for its fans first, the money second.
3.Tripwire Interactive makes games exclusively for PC which are always better than multi-platform games.

i was really hoping for battlefront 3 at e3 2010.......maybe they will announce it at that star wars con thing at disney world?

I hope that Lucas Arts truly realizes that this is one of the best games if not the best they have ever created and sooo many people love this game. The CS clan I am in was formed from the 1st battlefront 1 on the PS and we are still tight as ever to this very day! I truly hope that they hurry up and make this game already! I am really tired of being let down and psyched out all the time! I will not give up on you guys so I truly hope they will not give up on their true fans....

First I'll say good find by SG-17. Second I'll say to the Xbox 360 people to calm down a bit. Microsoft doesn't allow outside servers, just like on SWBF2, they run their own. So if this is legit and we see a Star Wars Battlefront 3 it will be for the Xbox 360 too (of course)
Lastly I'll say something to the SWBF2 die hard fans, at it's peak SWBF2 had maybe 1500 people on it, small tight community, no gamebattles, you had to stick to whatever class you were best at, class specific matches etc.. With a new game, it's going to be much, MUCH larger in the community, probably on Gamebatlles and I'm guessing were going to be able to customize our classes like the PSP versions and every other game out now days. So it's a catch 22. Careful what you wish for kind of deal.
It could be good, but it might be something totally different then we want or were used too, just be cautiously optimistic but prepare for the worst as well. New developer means they could have made a whole new game.

I want them to bring a full version of Battlefront to Arcade games on the x360 and PS3. Sure it'll be stripped of maps and stuff but I would buy it for $20.
