Even though Ubisoft hadn't announced a proper release date for Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, the publisher has already announced a small delay for their latest bout with interactive warfare. Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is no longer scheduled to be released by Christmas. It's now hitting in 2011.
Ubisoft revealed the news during a conference call today disclosing their fiscal year results.
According to Ubisoft, Ghost Recon: Future Foldier was originally set to arrive by Christmas, but Ubisoft has moved the game into early 2011. The game will now released between January and March 31, 2011.
The company cited a "very competitive environment," which echos similar business reasoning used by several publishers when deciding to avoid releasing against Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in 2009. Call of Duty: Black Ops, in development at Treyarch, was recently announced for November.
Ubisoft will be showing much more of Ghost Recon: Future Soldier next month at E3.

I think that the gaming industry always has way to many games coming out in te late fall. I know the argument for that is that most sales occur at that time because of presents for the holidays, but I still think that the market is undersaturated at other times of the year ESPECIALY shooters. I mean, do these companies seriously think I have money to buy Halo: Reach, MOH, COD: BO,and Assassin's Creed all in the course of like 3 months? and there are many others as well.

Smart move there are too many shooters lined-up for the Fall. So pushing it back to 2011 was a no-brainer

I really think that Ubi made the right decision, but that kinda makes me question the quality of the game. We haven't had an TCGR game in 2 years (or so), so I was hyped for it. The shooters that I'm really looking for this year: Halo Reach, Brink, and other games that I need to see more like, Crysis, TCGR, but since TCGR is set for 2011, it has just joined Rage and GoW3.

in my opinion, ghost recon is just as big of a name as call of duty, and if its purely because of that reason its a bit cowardly, christmas is a big time to release games. even if they released it a month after black ops, by that point people will realise how reconstituted COD B.O. is, and it should do well.
although on the plus side, this does give more time to test the game and refine anything needed in the end. cant wait.

Now it may complete with the unannounced Killzone 3 which is rumored to come out around that time as well. I still think the cloaked guy in this game is a copy of the sniper in Killzone 2 , the cloak and everything is an exact copy and even the light blue color the soldiers use in this game is the same one the ISA from Killzone use as well... coincidence?

Not only CoD, but Reach and MoH. This fall has an excellent lineup of FPSs.

It sucks but its a better move for them i guess.

I didn't see that coming or anything. Smart move though.

if they are going to use the same DRM on this game...i dont care when it comes out

So does this mean that the beta, that has keys released with copies of Splinter Cell: Conviction, is delayed too?
