Below are many details of Treyarch's Call of Duty: Black Ops. The kinda-sequel to Modern Warfare 2 was developed by Treyarch (not Infinity Ward) and is set during the Cold War as opposed to the near future like MW2. Below the cut, you'll find a bunch of new details of the game, including info on the return of the "zombie mode" that was so popular in Treyarch's last Call of Duty game, World at War, and info on the game's co-op limitations.
Here's the info, from the next issue of Official Xbox Magazine.
- You will be fighting the North Vietnamese Army in certain missions.
- You’re an off-the-grid, best-of-the-best badass -- like John Rambo or John Wayne.
- Vehicles will return, but “not in the way you remember them from WaW”.
- There will be “dedicated co-op” with separate levels.
- Treyarch changed the subject when the mag asked about World at War’s hugely popular Nazi Zombies, saying:
"We really like the Zombie Mode, and as I mentioned I can't talk about the co-op mode other than to say one of the reasons we love it so much is that it feels like it was a fan adopted mode, made out of passion of a lot of the team members here." - Treyarch's considering a multiplayer beta.
- Changes are being made to the matchmaking to “make it easier for [players] to get into games with their friends.”
- Create-a-Class 2.0 will allow you to customise yourself like never before. This should include kit and appearance items as well as perks.

i love this. everyone was hating on treyarch for WaW, and now every1 hates IW cuz of MW2 hate on the game, not the dev, but BO does sound great.

WE WANT MORE CANNIBAL KROUGHT KILLING CHAOS, but in Vietnam, and with Charlie instead of Gerry, ALL HAIL THE ZOMBIE MASTERS, give us more Zombies, Please!

All of this sounds promising, who knows if they will really be able to hit on all the details on all these things compared to how they ramped up almost every aspect of multiplayer in MW2. I root for the people who left who may/may not have a stake in this game, but I still hope they don't let the franchise fall on it's face because basically two people's eye for detail in game developement and a number of programers are no longer existent in the company.
milkdud-11
so is there zombies or what i was confused by that

Treyarch, in my opinion, has always been more about the fans. They've always taken into consideration what we as players want and have delivered a better and better product each time (i.e. zombie mode upgrades). I think Black Ops will FINALLY take the bad taste of COD3 out of everyone's mouth and let them truly get a taste of the passion that Treyarch has. With IW/Respawn out of the picture, it's time for Treyarch to take the reins. Best of luck to Respawn though, truly.

I think it may be too late for a beta if they are just *considering* it now. It takes a while to set one up, and you need enough time to pull the data from it into the final game. Thats way we have the Reach beta now.
However, I applaud the spirit. All these details emerging has me quite interested in a game just a few weeks ago I swore I wouldn't buy.
Damn Activision, but cheers to Treyarch.

I think Treyarch is doing a good thing here. They started off with the World War 1 and 2. Then Infinity Ward comes in and skips a major battle that was the Vietnam war!? I'm glad treyarch didn't skip this one and just move into the modern war. I think they're trying to really show how these wars kindof carry into each other.
