Lost Planet was a game that helped define the early years of Microsoft's console. Capcom was an early supporter of Xbox 360 and alongside Dead Rising, Lost Planet was proof of their faith. Now, Lost Planet 2 is here and the reaction has been -- how to put this -- decisive. Adam Sessler, Abbie Heppe, Sterling McGarvey and myself headed into the Feedback studio to talk about our time with the game.

Feedback -- LittleBigPlanet 2, Nintendo 3DS, And Lost Planet 2 »

In this episode of Feedback...

  • Sony and Media Molecule have finally confirmed LittleBigPlanet 2 and we are super excited.
  • More details on the Nintendo 3DS are discussed...before the machine is actually revealed. We now know the 3D technology can be turned off by users and the current name, 3DS, isn't final.
  • Activision CEO Bobby Kotick issued a surprisingly long statement recently about the firing of former Infinity Ward leaders Vince Zampella and Jason West, two men he called "friends."
  • Electronic Arts announced a new "Online Pass" initiative for its upcoming sports games, which locks online multiplayer and other features behind a gateway that costs $10 for used gamers.
  • We break down Lost Planet 2 and wonder about Japan's approach to co-op gameplay.
  • Finally, President Obama's comments about playing video games and using iPhones and iPads has riled up the G4tv.com readers, so we address the concept of games, addiction and hobbies.

Feedback, where I try to avoid strangling Adam Sessler over his Lost jokes week after week.

So if 3Ds isn't the official title and you're all toying with the idea that "DS" may not even be a part of the final product title, has no one besides me considered the possibility that it may not have "Dual Screens" after all thats what "DS" means, and could go back to a solo screen design? Also may loose touch capabilities. Think of it for a second, how do you touch screen a 3D game? If its possible it could be cool, but its not likely that the 3DS will be tandem screens or touch.

I think 3D is a bad idea, just a closing statement..

In regards to the EA codes that come with buying new games, I heard that one of the reasons is because a few months after release if a player buys the game used from a store like gamestop, the original creators of the game are not seeing any profit. The tactic they are using is trying to entice the gamer to buy the game new so that EA gets profit from the sale. I feel that if you could make this fact a little more clear to the public, they could have a better understanding of what EA is trying to accomplish.

But I also have to say, if EA wants to boast its own service, they have to make much greater efforts towards its overall function-ability than what we are seeing right now in Skate 3. For those who don't know, if you buy Skate 3 new you get a code that allows you to share your content online, but the online service is always crashing or just offline in general.

So basically what I am saying is there is nothing nefarious about what EA is trying to do, but it becomes so when the services you are paying for don't work properly.

In order to answer Adam's call for more highbrow reenactments of films in LBP2, I will be doing the Russian Roulette scene from The Deer Hunter. I think an LBP version of this would really add to the gravitas......

What's the big deal about not being able to play online if you buy a used game. Buying a used game is essentially no better than piracy because the dev sees none of that money.

I am a PC gamer, and I pay full price for all my games, and never am I able to buy used ones, do I cry and moan about it? no, because It's my game and I find that I actually enjoy a game more if I know that I dropped the cash on it.

Yeah I have to say, if you have to aks yourself the question, "did I eat today?" only to turn around and say "Oh man that game looks incredible, I think I'll buy it," and keeping in mind that your bank account is a little limited at the moment. I'm soo hyped for LBP2 too it seems like Media Molecule have found a way to push Innovation with the IP and I have so much faith in them as developers that I know they'll hit out of the ball park, the only thing is I haven't bought LBP yet :( only played it. Another great Feedback but really, is it a surprise?

All i do is play games. Pretty much. But there are reasons for that that involve personal matters that shouldn't be discussed over the internet. I'm am currently getting my life on track, but when i'm not doing anything important, and i feel like it, i'm playing games...

I guess i'm saying it's not an addiction for me. I just love them to death, and currently have nothing else to do. Though i am starting to work out. I should read more.

I like Sterling. Because his name sounds like the title of a 70's cop show title? Because he has a sweet afro thing goin' on? I don't know. I just like him.

I completely agree w/Klepic's argument regarding customers jumping through two hoops to access EA'S online pass. I'm still taken aback by the omission that we have the third hoop, the price consumers pay for broadband internet connections. It's simply cost stacking and it's very cannibalistic to the industry.

I see two possible outcomes from this development. 1) Moves like this will push consumers to the PS3, where they have one less hoop to jump through. 2) EA will lose late-adopting players who feel like they should have all the features in the game they just paid for.

Great episode people. Keep it going.

Great show like always guys and gal. I wish that main stream media could see that people who are immersed in games and that world in general can still have a good solid discourse about real issues and that they can have an opinion that doesn't end with a *headshot* or screaming pre-teen profanity.

I think Adam had a good point with games and childhood. I gamed a lot when I was a kid but I also made it a point to game with my friends, in person. I'm sure you all remember the old Goldeneye days where you traded controllers and punched each other for "Cheap Kills." I love my XBL but nothing replaces the fun that fragging the person sitting next to you brings or rocking a 5 song set with Rock Band. I guess my point is, social interaction on a person to person basis is a mjor part of development not only as a child but as an adult as well.

    Thanks for the discourse folks.

@Lord_Wake-I agree with you 100%, and I think EA already started with a shooter. I have Army of Two: 40th Day, and there is some type of only key access crap I have to put in, which I haven't even done yet, and I've had the game since launch. I wouldn't be surprised if they did nor would I be surprised if we see other big name developers doing the same thing!!
