Call of Duty: Black Ops

USA Today's game blog Game Hunters has an interesting detail on upcoming FPS Call of Duty: Black Ops. Along with the expected multiplayer, the Treyarch-developed game will allow four-player co-op.

The preview of the game provides a look into the Black Ops world as well as some background on the game's plot. The story is told through the eyes of multiple characters, and at least part of it takes place in 1968, just when the Cold War was heating up.

Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia said, "The team is really excited about creating a game in this period... We really felt like it was fertile ground for us and we could provide something fresh for gamers." That something fresh will involve the secret warfare carried out between the USA and USSR, back when Communists were bad, and badass.

The preview level played by USA Today was heavy on the stealth, with the main weapon being a modified crossbow, which Lamia says is "a great example of how elite black ops teams were permitted to equip themselves for whatever job they had at hand."  The crossbow in the game is based on  a military grade crossbow, and serves as a "dual-purpose weapon used for stealth, and one which when modified, could stealthily and precisely place a lethal explosive at range."

So now you know a little more about Call of Duty: Black Ops. Does that sound like something you'll pick up when it comes out on November 9?
