Media Molecule have been delivering additional content for the rabid fans of LittleBigPlanet on a regular basis since the game launched, but they haven't fundamentally changed the game. And while the studio seems to have previously dismissed the idea of a full-fledged sequel, it looks like we're getting one. Game Informer, teasing their next issue online, has promised the first details on LittleBigPlanet 2.
I've reached out to Sony for additional confirmation of LittleBigPlanet 2, but sequel's existence would be massive turnabout for Media Molecule, who actually called the idea of LittleBigPlanet 2 "counterproductive" in an interview last fall. What could have suddenly changed their minds?
“We’d never fragment the community," said Media Molecule level designer Danny Leaver in an interview with Critical Gamer late last year, when asked about developing a disc-based sequel. “We’d never want to do that. That’d be the most counterproductive thing you could do I think.”
Of course, it's possible LittleBigPlanet 2 isn't being released on a disc at all or Media Molecule has found a way to avoid fragmenting their active development community with the sequel.

LittleBigPlanet was a "game" where they gave you a few levels to play and then told you to make your own. You have since downloaded the content packs to expand your variety of level making. Unless they do something new with 2 that is completely different from 1. Aren't you going to feel ripped off for buying a game that is too similar to the last one. Wasn't building your own levels the draw here? So unless their creation machine is drastically changed, aren't you going to feel ripped off?

hum. It will be very interesting as to what they are going to do with the community of the first game. If they find a way incorporate the community and content of the first game that would be awesome. I still go back to LPB every other week and having a way to use that content in a new game would be fantastic. I hope at E3 Sony dumps the mother load of info on LBP2 and sequels to other 1st party titles under Sony's roof.

I would imagine that its a new game that has improvements and upgrades from the first, but can still allow people to utilize all the content from the first game so no ones level would become obsolete. I'm sure they going to have fully integrated Move support. maybe they'll add the ability to create fully 3d levels instead of 3d side-scrolling levels only.

it would be pretty sweet if all their content worked like rock band's does between its sequels

It could possibly be another one for PSP?
