Beware The Sack Boy -- LittleBigPlanet 2 Confirmed

LittleBigPlanet Game Of The Year Edition Includes User Levels, DLC Packs

Media Molecule have been delivering additional content for the rabid fans of LittleBigPlanet on a regular basis since the game launched, but they haven't fundamentally changed the game. And while the studio seems to have previously dismissed the idea of a full-fledged sequel, it looks like we're getting one. Game Informer, teasing their next issue online, has promised the first details on LittleBigPlanet 2.

I've reached out to Sony for additional confirmation of LittleBigPlanet 2, but sequel's existence would be massive turnabout for Media Molecule, who actually called the idea of LittleBigPlanet 2 "counterproductive" in an interview last fall. What could have suddenly changed their minds?

“We’d never fragment the community," said Media Molecule level designer Danny Leaver in an interview with Critical Gamer late last year, when asked about developing a disc-based sequel. “We’d never want to do that. That’d be the most counterproductive thing you could do I think.”

Of course, it's possible LittleBigPlanet 2 isn't being released on a disc at all or Media Molecule has found a way to avoid fragmenting their active development community with the sequel.

What makes me laugh is that all you hardcore Sony fanboys call the 360 a kiddie console yet you all pee your Sackboy diapers when you see games like Modnation Racers and LittleBigPlanet 2 and talk about how excited you are and how awesome its going to be. I wonder if you guys will continue to say the same excuse you did last time by saying LBP isn't a kid game its "artistic". Lol! Have fun playing your baby games PS3 fans. I'll be playing real games like Reach, Fable 3, Crackdown 2, Alan Wake, and so on and so on and so on!

An LBP 2, definitely means they have some significant improvements and alterations to make to the game. I'm guessing new character abilities, many new creation tools, new and improved physics, possibly the ability to do 3D and a new more organized community section.

they are right, fragmenting the LBP community is the wrong thing to do

They might be planning a big, game-changing update.

I remember from about a year ago, Criterion Games really put in an effort to make Burnout Paradise a significantly better game without releasing a sequel. First, they did two things: 1) redid the lighting to show off the colors more; and 2) rebalanced all of the cars--in particular, they slowed down the earlier cars and sped up the later cars [the beginner cars were made easier to drive, while the expert cars were much more satisfying to drive]. The second thing they did was release Big Surf Island, basically the Burnout equivalent of the Shivering Isles. Together, the two updates did a lot to bring new life into the game.

I don't expect for a few years (maybe 2012) not only was the original delayed for some but it doesn't need to be on the Ps3 as well. i am hoping they will add something like gravity control in the sequel. also they must make a seperate page for survival and racing levels. it is hard to spot the good from the stupid.

The Media Molecule are a great team, I'm sure they came with some great concepts for a sequel. I feel bad as well since I have yet to buy this title and I really want this game[LBP 1]

No kidding! My friends and I were just discussing LittleBigPlanet in French class today. I'm hoping for more awesome costumes, more awesome levels, and new features. I'm sure that it's going to be awesome with Media Molecule behind the wheel.
