Activision is being much more conservative with its music game releases in 2010. On its first quarter 2010 conference call this afternoon, the company confirmed Guitar Hero 6 and "the next DJ Hero" (Activision didn't call it DJ Hero 2) are on track for a release sometime this fall.
Guitar Hero 6 will be released prior to the next DJ Hero, however. Activision said the turntable follow-up would be available "soon after" the release of Guitar Hero 6.
Activision said both games would feature "more great original music, new and innovative gameplay modes and a significantly enhanced social gaming experience," and plenty of downloadable content.
Both games will most likely see a proper unveiling next month at E3 in Los Angeles.

One word... Saturation.

Wait...isn't this the same company that 2-3 months back said that they will not be continuing any franchises, including GH, until 2011?? They must have gotten worried when RB3 was announced. I haven't played a GH game in almost 3 years...simple reason...RockBand has way better songs and DLC. Until GH's DLC starts respecting the fact that not all the people playing this game are not 16 year old teeny boppers who think that playing music means playing as fast as you can and starts putting actual "music" on their games...they ain't getting my money.

i thought they would of ran out of songs by now, they release new songs every week. Good thing I stuck with Rockband

I'm stoked for DJ Hero 2. Of course, I wont be buying it new because I no longer support Activision [good ol ebay or craigslist], but I guess somehow Activision will be getting my money off DLC for that...
As for Guitar Hero 6... suck it... 'nuff said,

and that is why I have not and will not buy anymore guitar hero or pretty much anything Activision. They over release their products and do not create any way of tying in with the previous version so basically even if they have good DLC, which they haven't, it is useless when the next one comes out. I would have to have all the discs just to play the songs I want. No thanks, I will stick with Rock Band who actually respects my investment of money into their DLC and makes it useful from one iteration to another.

GH6 better have some damn Led Zeppelin!!!!!!!!!

same here, the last "true" guitar hero, imho, was guitar hero 3 and dj hero was a pretty addictive experience after my gf bought it for me for christmas, so i'm stoked for part 2

The last games i really enjoyed was GH3 and metallica i took joy in playing songs that were challenging that made me better

Really? I thought music games died?

Unless Guitar Hero comes out with their own rock band network type of program , i dont see any reason to get this, because at this point with all the DLC Rock Band has, this guitar hero better have an ace up their sleeve.

Wait i just finally relised that E3 is only a month away!

If GH6 doesn't at least have as many challenging songs as GH3 then I will not get it. GH3 was the last good GH title. Everything else after that was a joke and incredibly boring. GH6 needs to have much harder songs. At least make them bonus songs so people don't have to play them in career mode.

"Activision is giving full creative control to Bungie over their IP". What? That doesn't sounds like them, they sound...nice.
"Activision continues to milk their franchises to death by releasing more GH and DJ Hero that we don't need." Now THAT'S more like it!
BONERJAM
I doubt it but maybe they can get GH out of that deep dark hole it went into after Harmonix moved on.

Time to put my DJ Hero peripheral on craigslist as I'm sure the new one will have be better. Though I hope it won't be very different so it won't take long to learn.

For some reason, I can see a hip-hop tracklist in mind for "the next DJ Hero" game.
And if so, I guess I'll have to drop all hope on ever seeing Scratch: The Ultimate DJ ever seeing the light of day.
DreamingDarklyRobin
I will probably rent this because although GH5 was decent, it didn't have songs I wanted.
More My Morning Jacket and King Crimson would be nice though.
