Well, it’s official. Ubisoft’s next Assassin’s Creed game is in fact the recently rumored Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood.
Forget website registrations and Facebook teases. The killer cat was let out of the bag thanks to the above placeholder box art that some sneaky GameStop employee snuck to Kotaku. Ubisoft has since confirmed that the leaked box art is authentic and that more information should be coming next week.
Now, in addition to featuring some question-inducing character designs, the box art also contained a bunch of details about the game, including some nice hints about the game’s previously confirmed multiplayer component.
Here are the box quotes:
- “Live and breathe as Ezio, now a legendary master assassin, in his struggle against the Templar order. Lead your own brotherhood of Assassins and strike at the heart of the enemy. Rome.”
- "And for the first time, take part in an innovative multiplayer layer allowing you to embody an assassin of your choosing and define their killing style.”
- "A never-before-seen online multiplayer experience.”
- "Lead your own brotherhood of assassins, as Ezio, and conquer Rome."
Based on these descriptions, specifically the “brotherhood of assassins” mention, and Ubisoft revealing the next Assassin’s Creed would include “very innovative assassination multiplayer,” it’s safe to assume that this “brotherhood” idea is precisely that. And to be honest, that sounds totally rad. A posse of assassin’s running around Rome and wiping out Templars via coordinated attacks? Uh, yeah. Get me my animus, boy.
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is expected to release this fall on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC (let the DRM rumblings begin).
