Nier Gets A Release Date: April 27

Nier is a strange, strange case. Any game that starts up with a woman yelling a litany of gratuitous profanity is going to be an interesting ride. And indeed, Cavia's action RPG has plenty to separate it from its peers, including a unique cross-genre approach to gameplay. It's not without some bumps in the road, but Jeffrey Matulef thinks that it's worth your time investment. Here's some of his take:

"Taking inspiration from such diverse sources as Zelda, Resident Evil and any number of arcade shooters, Cavia’s Nier is a fascinating hodgepodge of different action/adventure genres. Good combat, great music, and inspired art direction make for a worthy entry in the genre. A very slow start, technical shortcomings and repetitive enemies hold Nier back from greatness, but its eclectic nature outstrips its limitations, if you’re willing to invest in the adventure."

If you're looking for a new action RPG that's a bit off the beaten path, check out Jeffrey's review to learn more!
