BioWare has gone ahead and granted your wishes for details about the upcoming Darkspawn Chronicles downloadable content for Dragon Age: Origins by passing along…well, a bunch of details.
The DLC, which releases on May 18, lets players step into the evil (yet surprisingly comfortable) shoes of the Darkspawn, and play as hurlock vanguard during a campaign set within an alternate history that kicks off with the death of your character.
If that’s not enough juicy info for you, try this out:
- Imagine a world without heroes, where the greatest among you never became a Grey Warden.
- Play through the Fall of Denerim from the perspective of the darkspawn.
- Complete the module and unlock an epic darkspawn item for use in Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening.
- Use the “Enthrall” ability – recruit any darkspawn you encounter into your party.

Even though I’ve never played Dragon Age, I’m a big fan of alternate histories and parallel narratives, so Darkspawn Chronicles sounds kind of rad to me. But what do you diehard Dragon Age fans think?
Should the need arise, feel free to E-Mail me your tips, suggestions, and/or personal philosophies, or follow me on Twitter.

Out of curiosity, is there anyone at X-Play besides Adam Sessler and the guys who reviewed Dragon Age: Origins and Awakening, played Dragon Age?

They shall milk this title for all it is worth, apparently (not that I'm complaining). The alternate reality bit seems a good idea for a DLC. (has it been done before?)

That seems pretty cool something similar should be done with mass effect

Well I had to restart my dragon age game since i screwed it up so bad in the beginning i couldnt beat the end. But once I beat it I can't wait to get this DLC, seems like a lot of fun.

I'm a bit dubious... If it had fit into the main storyline, then I'd have liked it. Being in an alternate timeline....not so much. Oh well. I bought DA:O and DA:OA for PC and have since gotten a PS3. I'm not rebuying both for PS3 and I won't buy another PC title. Being burned by Supreme Commander 2 was the last straw for me when it comes to PC games. I won't sink another dime in it. It's consoles all the way from here on out.....

Kinda shocked and a little worried, one of the things that makes DA good is the conversations and choices you make in between the fights. I really hope this still has that and this dosn't end up being one long battle only. Story from a darkspawn perspective would be awesome.

-wanted to put this on before-
If you can play as a Hurlock, will it be possible to play as a Genlock, Shriek or even an Ogre?
