It's one thing to hear Hollywood and 3D technology manufacturers tell you "hey, the future is 3D, start dealing with it." It's quite another to hear it from the people in charge of the games you love to play. When I attended the 3D Gaming Summit in Los Angeles a few weeks back, I sat down with a number of gaming executives, developers and movie industry moguls about how the 3D popularized with Avatar can properly intersect with gaming. They also expressed some potential problems, too.
At the summit, I spoke with Zombie Studios CEO Mark Long (Blacklight), Gaikai CEO David Perry (Earthworm Jim), Arad Productions movie producer Ari Arad (Lost Planet), Capcom VP of marketing and strategic planning Christian Svensson, Rockstar San Diego senior game designer Kris Roberts (Midnight Club) and Epic Games VP Mark Rein. Each is approaching 3D from a different perspective.
