There's been plenty of heated debate lately about the recent passing of Arizona Senate Bill 1070, which requires Arizona residents to have proof of identity on themselves or face potential jail-time. Critics allege the bill, which encourages police to investigate individuals "suspected" of being illegal immigrants, will increase racial profiling and doesn't impact the larger issue of illegal immigration.
Part of the national response to the bill has been boycotting Arizona, thereby sending a financial message to state leaders by impacting the bottom line of Arizona businesses. A recent story filed by 3TV in Arizona highlighted several affected businesses -- including an indie game developer.
Who? Why? What game? Keep reading.

Mojo-Bone Software Studios CEO Adam Goldman, a developer of casual games, told 3TV his upcoming two million dollar project had scheduled 30 actors to record lines and they all pulled out, taking issue with traveling to Arizona. Now, Goldman's moving the recording session to Los Angeles.
“They don't want to come to be harassed," said Goldman, whose new game is code-named Project Blue Ghost, "and they don't want to be associated with anything in Phoenix right now."
Goldman's studio highlights recent successes Tilez and Gadgetz on its Facebook page. Both are tile-based puzzle games. The game Goldman's seen playing in the background during the 3TV segment appears to be an upcoming Mojo-Bone release, the Arkanoid-influenced Brixter.

I live in aarizona and have been my whole life. I am a supporter of this law. It really bugs me when people misrepresenting the law. No the police just can't pull you because you are as people have been saying BROWN. You have be commenting a crime then they can ask for your papers. It's the same rules the INS have been using for the longest of time yet nobody is boycotting them., What pissing me off is other states and cities calling for a boycott of my state taking money away from the hard working people of Arizona. We have a big illegal immigrant problem here, Just the other day the police found about 50 illegal immigrants in a stash house in my neighbor, This is have been a common thing happening the last couple of years. So please tell me what other choice did Arizona have. I hear all this protest but I have yet to hear any solutions or alternatives to our problems. So please before you judge us and condemn us to hell, please have a solution to our problem

its kinda impossible NOT to profile with this law...If we suddenly banned all immigration from Japan, they wouldnt stop the black guy coming off the plane would they? theyre gonna stop the asian guy. Im not for this law but im not completly against it either because I honestly dont know enough and im not from arizona so its not my buisness yet. But the profiling this is stupid to debate on because its obvious.

show me where this law is going against the constitution ? if your challenging the laws constitutionality then the burden of proof is on you to provide.

@ Jewunit666. you talk like arizona is the only state with a border to mexico. all other border states have the same immigration problem or worse than arizona. but i am not calling arizonians racist, but the law is definetly racist (even if you dont believe so) the truth is we all are racist one way or another including myself, but realizing it is the only way to stop it.
and yeah i know there is a reply button, but G4 website has taken arizona law seriously and doesn't let anyone without proper identification to reply to posts.

I don't see what the big deal is. Even if there's racial profiling on hispanics, once the officer hears the person speak plain english and sees their Driver's license, there's no reason to suspect that they're an illegal alien.

I'm curious to know how many Americans are truly against this recently passed bill to effect an entire state? I'd say it's not many. The one's who are up in arm's over this is the illegals themselves.

My advice to G4, stop bringing up politics! All it does is make people argue and angry at the other party!

The law is the law. If your not going to arrest someone for being a illegal immigrant. Then why arrest a bank robber or a murder. Those things are against law to. I don't care where your form. Just do it legal.

it's funny, white men kick the Native Americans out and told them to take a hike. They EVENTUALLY feel bad and give them non-taxed corporation rights (thats fair right?). Then they kick out the Mexicans (yes Arizona was part of Mexico originally), tried to do the nice thing by keeping them in first, but they're starting to feel like "they're all up in my space" now right? Oh yeah "everyones created equal" as authority now has the right to ask whoever they want if they're "legal." Are you kidding me? I swear, as much as I love this nation, it has stupidity stamped all over its forehead now and throughout its history. The worse thing is that US Citizens now have Stockholm Syndrome and never think to question authority. Anyone that supports this bill in Arizona aren't just plain stupid, their giant hypocrites. Judging the bill from a 20 year old perspective (or however old you guys are) is one of the dumbest things you could do. After reading a few of the comments here it seems people have alot to learn about the US and its role throughout history.

Yay, politics and videogames.

Im okay with the bill. I feel like everyone is disregarding the whole drug war in mexico, right at the border of "Arizona". Arizona is afraid, whats going to come over the border. Arizona does not want drug dealers that dont think twice about killing, coming into there state. I dont see anything wrong with stoping someone if they look suspicious. Also, think about it there not going to stop anyone that fits a racial description, you how much more media hype that would start and potentionally a riot.

When they start handing out those fashionable yellow star patches, sign me up. Those things match my hobo travelling stick, and backpack.

Logically this law can seem to make sense because it is technically "the law." But as with everything, society isn't black and white. The greater impacts and consequences of this law also goes against the constitution. I'm not saying immigration isn't a problem, but this is a poor solution. Game developers have the right to be mad, cuz so is everyone else.... at least the intelligent ones.

This is great law Arizona has and I hope it spreads to the other states. I don't care if it affects gaming or not, spread it. It's about time a state come up with a law to control illegal immigrants
AnonymouZero
i'm glad someone is serious about the boycott to arizona. i mean, what is this BS law, LIVING while BROWN?
freaking ridiculous. like that guy from snl said:
there's been no nazi movie where the SS dudes didn't ask: "where are your papers?"
ww2_honor
I'm sorry I thought we went to war because Nazi Control? Aren't we doing the exact thing to the immigrants minus the killing? They have to carry around their papers to show they are a citizen, just like the people who weren't Jew's had to do. Or maybe we'll make them wear something on them to show that they're immigrants, like the Nazi's made the Jew's wear stars. I went to a Rise Against concert on Saturday and they expressed their thoughts on how wrong this is (they are very political and are the best band ever).

How bout them Lakers?

i really hate people who arent from arizona and are just calling us racist and how the bill is bad, youre not the ones on the border, and it actually helps protect citizens besides if you are an immegrant youre suppost to have your paperwork with you at all tiems anyway

@D3stroyer427
The problem people have with the bll isn't sending illegals back... at least for the most part. The problem they have with it is that it give the police the ability to ask to see any ones papers at any minute and if they dont have them they can detain them WITHOUT CAUSE for 48 hours... This will effect hispanics who are here LEGALLY and its a biggoted peice of legislation that sets a dangerous precedent. This new law is compbarable to the aparthied legislation in S. Africa, because it encourages discrimination and forces citizens to carry thier paper with them at all times
