Electronic ArtsIt’s looking more and more likely that Starbreeze Studios’ long rumored reboot of the sci-fi title Syndicate, codenamed “Project Red Lime,” is not only happening, but is well into development.

See, Australia’s official ratings board, the OFLC, recently handed down a M15+ rating for an Electronic Arts game called Project Red, Joystiq reports. Why is that noteworthy, you ask?

Well, last month, EA announced that it had canceled one of Starbreeze’s two in-development titles. The canceled project was a new game based on the Robert Ludlum’s Jason Bourne novels. The second title was presumed to be "Project Red Lime" (Note the Project Red in the title? If not, I have a giant whiteboard filled with complex formulas that can help if need be).

So, if this newly filed ratings classification is any indication, those assumptions about a Syndicate remake would appear correct. Unless of course EA is just being cheeky and messing with gamers by throwing an ironically red herring into the mix, in which case bravo, EA. Bravo.

What say you?
