I like my game systems like I like my Metal: Black. A week ago, the black Wii was a rumor, but this morning, Nintendo officially unveiled the onyx console. That's a picture of it above.
As you can see, the black Wii is bundled with MotionPlus controller-enable WiiMote and Nunchuck, and comes with both Wii Sports and its sequel, Wii Sports Resort. It will retail for $200 and will be available on May 9. If you like the classic, played-out Wii, the same bundle will be available in white, too.
Personally, I think white electronics have had their moment in the sun, and it's time to move on to new colors and styles. Black is much cooler (although it draws fingerprints), but what I really hope makes a comeback in the next generation of console are those wood-grained cabinets they used to pack everything in the 1970s. I can't wait to play my faux wooden Xbox 720 in a couple years!
What do you think of the black Wii?

Pretty obvious that they are trying to improve their offering before Natal and the PS3 motion control accessories come out. Unfortunately for them, most "real" gamers only see this as a last ditch ploy to get them to buy their dated system and it won't work. Sure there are those who have wanted to buy a Wii or have held out for a price drop, etc that will jump on this, but it's obvious that this product is being dropped a little more than a month before E3 to try and build hype and steal the thunder from their rivals.

I think its about time. White electronics get dirty so quickly, then they are forever stained with that "dingy" look.

Unless it comes with a new large hard drive or now plays DVDs or BluRays, I don't care. I personally like white because it brightens a room rather than drags it down. I really hate shiny black because of all the finger print issues.
