I like my game systems like I like my Metal: Black. A week ago, the black Wii was a rumor, but this morning, Nintendo officially unveiled the onyx console. That's a picture of it above.
As you can see, the black Wii is bundled with MotionPlus controller-enable WiiMote and Nunchuck, and comes with both Wii Sports and its sequel, Wii Sports Resort. It will retail for $200 and will be available on May 9. If you like the classic, played-out Wii, the same bundle will be available in white, too.
Personally, I think white electronics have had their moment in the sun, and it's time to move on to new colors and styles. Black is much cooler (although it draws fingerprints), but what I really hope makes a comeback in the next generation of console are those wood-grained cabinets they used to pack everything in the 1970s. I can't wait to play my faux wooden Xbox 720 in a couple years!

you know i see a lot of ppl bash the wii..and i bet the majority of the bashers have either never played one or have only spent a limited amount of time playing one..and my opinion is and this is just an opinion...if you havent experienced something first hand..you have absolutely no business putting it down because that makes you a hypocrite and and idiot...so shout the f.... up about it already..

It's ugly white. Just like the 360, it's so fugly in white. But I already got one with dust on it, so not worth it for me to switch. Plus I remember seeing the wii in a couple of colors about a year before it came out (like baby blue and baby pink), but I could be wrong.

Why would a black Wii matter for the lame "fingerprint" argument? Who is constantly picking up and touching their console? Other than the eject button, why would you need to touch the console and put these apparently horrific fingerprints on it?
I like the blue LED shining with the black. It think that looks pretty awesome, but I've already got 2 white Wiis, so I don't see me buying a black one. Although, if I were buying one, I would pick up the black one instead of the white.

If it came in a matte finish (so I don't get my nasty fingerprints on it), I'd be buying this the day it came out. But man, that contrast between the black console and the soft, electric blue slot illumination is just beautiful...

I like the stark contrast of my white Wii with my shiny black PS3. This black Wii, though, looks rather sexy.
If I didn't already have Wii Sports Resort, I would consider getting this. And like Suhaila said, if there were a bigger hard drive or the capability for movie playback, then I would definitely get it. But my PS3 does it all, so I still can't rationalize this purchase.
Nice try, Nintendo. Why couldn't you have done this 2 years ago? I would've bought a black Wii then.

meh....if it had been released at the same time the original wii came out i would have probably bought it instead...but now there is no way im going to spend $200 just to change color when it seems this "new" wii is not really going to do anything new :(

At least when the 360 went black they increased the HDD & added hdmi. You can change the color of a piece of crap, but without making any improvements, its still going to stink!
