Who knows when (or if) we'll see another Modern Warfare, but Activision has no plans to stall the Call of Duty franchise. The next installment, Call of Duty: Black Ops, comes courtesy of Treyarch, who last developed Call of Duty: World at War. The first trailer is available below:
Call of Duty: Black Ops will be released on November 9.

jesus christt GOD am i the only one who loves treyarchs CODS i think they do the best job on theres then IF and waw was amazing to me cause what it offered it felt like i was really palying in a war.

I don't understand why the modern warfare series (no matter if it is Treyarch or Infinity Ward) like to retrogress the call of duty series....it would make sense if these were made right after the countless WWII games they made, but yet they decided to break up the modern warfare series and go back in time...I don't know about you guys, but I think after Modern Warfare 2, I think I'm done with call of duty...it makes no sense to continue this pattern...hopefully Medal of Honor and Ghost Recon prove to be worth buying...both look promising...

umm....okay ya could have actually teased me! i was excited to see this trailer but then it actually didnt really show anything worth while... oh well i like call of duty so i just hope it's good

Ok people this is what I know. Treyarch made call of duty look really good. It looked like a war, felt like one, and although it was in ww2 it was a well rounded game. Yeah sure they did take alot of the multiplayer from COD4 but if it was so successful why not. It might take place in vietnam which i think it will, and you know what let it take place there. It use to be too many WW2 games, now its too many Modern Warfare games I say lets sit back and let the developers make a great game that will catch our eyes this holiday season and allow some competition for Halo Reach because when it's all said and done the players will choose what's the biggest game of the 2010 year not microsoft or sony.

im still a little confused on the time line... SR71s arent around anymore.. so im thinking somewhere between cold and desert storm? black opps= spec opps which could be pretty much anything anywhere.. hopefully they stick to actual history (as far as conflicts go) and dont make up absurd wars like mw2 did

I personally can't wait for this title. Especially if they get rid of annoying perks like commando and one man army. Especially if the took out the noob tube, or at least dumb it down to where people don't spam it. Also, get rid of tactical insertions so there isn't any nuke boosting in our free for all matches. Oh, and just get rid of the nuke. That promotes camping, and making killstreaks not accumulate towards the next killstreak would be greatly appreciated. I also heard of the knife being a secondary? I actually like that concept. Also, let's not have akimbo shotguns, I can see pistols, but not shottys. Also, get rid of deathstreaks. No more martyrdom, painkiller, or final stand. It's stupid to reward people for sucking at the game. Alright, I'll stop rambling. My eye is on you along with the entire CoD fan base, Treyarch.
Don't let us down.

This seems like its going to be pretty sweet. I had always hoped that there would be a CoD Vietnam but it seemed like it would be difficult to have the entire game focus solely on that conflict. Taking the black-ops route will allow them to visit the era without dedicating the story to it.
I just hope that Treyarch doesn't go the same route as MW2 when it comes to multiplayer. They skill modified the living heck out of that game to make it more accessible to people who suck at shooters, and in the process ruined it. Hopefully there will be a beta like WaW too.

I just have a feeling that this game is going to end up maybe being good and all of the people trashing treyarch is going to hop on the band waggon lol me personally im waiting to see what the new medal of honor could dish out
