Have you ever played a Mario game and thought, "This is just too complicated!" Me neither. But still, if you need a little extra help with Mario, Super Mario Galaxy 2 has you covered. The release of the box art for the European version of the game reveals that it comes with an instructional DVD to help noobs, newbs and n00bs play the game, as well as get a little insight into how his new suits work.

At first glance, this seems a little silly, but if the DVD is used to explain some of the more esoteric bits of Super Mario Galaxy 2's plot (Hopefully, chapters will include: "What are Starbits and why should I care? and "Luigi: Friend or Foe?") It would make sense. One of the few complaints I have about Super Mario Galaxy was the seemingly endless amount of instructional pop-up videos that you run across in the beginning chapters of the game.

Also: You can't play DVDs with your Wii, which makes this ironic.

Need to fix that headline on the home page. A "hot-to DVD" doesn't sound quite right when we're talking about a Mario game...

i love it, it would be like packaging a copy of halo legends on blu ray with Reach or having the God of War ultimate Trilogy collection with the first 2 god of wars on ps2 discs

so this proves even the wii users themselves are downgraded.

They're going to kill the strategy guide market by basically telling people how to play a game. Still, some people will watch the DVD and scratch their heads in confusion, whereby Nintendo will make games that play themselves and players can just sit and watch... unless Hideo Kojima already patented that idea.

If a person can't figure out how play Mario, I don't really have a lot of faith that they know how to play a DVD. Maybe they should have included a VHS for the elder-wii.

"would you like to see how to beat this really difficult boss?"
    "yes please"
"then please buy our next DVD how-to, thank you"

you should fix the feed title, unless this is really a "hot-to" and not how-to dvd.

Wait, couldn't they have just had a tutorial in the game?

    What's next?

Super Mario Galaxy 3, now with autopilot mode.
"It's like playing a game without having to actually play a game!"

In all honesty I don't see the point behind this. We already have strategy guides that you can buy at the store, and websites like GameFAQs have FREE walkthroughs. If that still isn't good enough just search youtube and you'll probably find a video walkthrough for the section of game you are stuck on. I know this is supposed to be a convenience thing, but it's not like you can even play the DVD on the wii. I am already thinking about how many people will try to play the DVD on the wii, only to get a disc read error and think that their disk is defective for some reason. I just fail to see the reasoning behind this.

Nintendo always thinks outside the box. Who needs special instructions all on one disk when you can have *TWO* disks! You see that blu-ray, this is innovation.

I guess having a manual would be pointless

Interesting...Nintendo attached a DVD to game that goes to a game system that coincidentally is the only one that does not support DVDs...interesting marketing technique.
