You know those hardcore Halo 2 fans who are still playing the game on Xbox Live even though Microsoft shut down the service a few weeks back? Well, in addition to untold amounts of gamer respect, the refusing-to-finish-the-fight-ers have also received a special gift from Microsoft: access to the multiplayer beta for Halo: Reach.
“A small band of a committed few, engaged in a battle against insurmountable odds. It's not Noble team from Halo: Reach, it's the final, passionate few who are still playing Halo 2. We wish them the best in their battle against time. Their tremendous exhibition of courage and commitment makes them ideal candidates for Noble team and therefore we are working to ensure they have everything necessary to participate in the Halo: Reach beta,” Microsoft said in a statement to IGN.
According to this currently offline Justin.tv feed, there are now just eight players still connected. You can follow their valiant stand over at the Bungie forums. It’s unclear how many players will received Reach beta access, but I poked Microsoft for more details.

Microsoft should have waited till monday so that everybody could play it at the same time and the people that got to play it early should be locked out of the beta for three days when it comes out for everybody just to be fair.
I Was Pissed when i seen people playing it on xbox live.

they should be rewarded. any fan of that caliber deserves something much grater than just beta codes. ( they more than likely already have the codes) what they should receive is some thing that only those players should have. something that well carry in to the halo games that come after. they should have there own special armor. one that has never been seen before. this way we know the who thous detected fans are.

now thats some good dedication!! tho its surprising they didnt get RROD. musta had the cooling thing and played in like a freezer. last time i played on my friends 360 all night in the morning it completely died! lucky me 3 year warranty or i would have had 2 pay! xD

what is really awesome is that we are being locked out of a game that requires no effort from microsoft since it is hosted on a local xbox and runs through an internet connection which is always maintained regardless and there fore has nothing to do with them they just want to force people to buy new games and quit playing old ones. We Payed 60 bucks for the copyrights to those games and the mulitplayer plus part of that 60 dollars goes towards network maintenance fees not to mention our xbox live subscription so they stole our money. not that I care I don't play Halo 2 or 3 anymore but it still pisses me off. by the way. the 360 plays Halo 2 just fine so don't assume they don't have a 360.

If I where in charge at Microsoft I'd give them all custom Halo Reach Xbox360(because u know MS is going to make a reach bundle)and a free copy of Halo Reach. I'm mean it's just 8 players so M$ won't lose that much money in the deal and they'll probably stand to make all the money back When these guys download stuff from Marketplace and sign up for a live gold membership. I'm just saying sounds like a pretty good idea to me.

um the xbox servers may be down but that doesn't mean that computer players are out of luck. If you REALLY wanted to play halo2 you can buy a controller for pc and get it for pc for 20 bucks.
