These days, it seems like most hardcore gamers have managed to purchase both an Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, ensuring they're not locked out of any of the must-have video games that are sometimes exclusive. Some G4tv.com readers, however, are still holding out on one system or another. For example, reader pcNorth_mOnster will be buying an Xbox 360 specifically because of Halo: Reach.

WAY TO GO DPsx7. FRAK console shooters. Frak you 300 dollar bullshiz console. Frak your red ring, your blu-ray laser failing, frak your motherboard bending. Buy a PC and you'll actually KNOW what gaming is. Did you know that 90% of the multiplatform games come out on PC? Do you know what 60FPS looks like? Do you know what it even means? FRAK your cheap ass console and it's 5 year old hardware. Get a job and get some knowledge and stop hating on the PC you fraks. This is coming from a 360 owner BTW. Go play any title on 360 and i'll show you a faster, smoother experience on a PC, playing it with a 360 controller.

ok the biggest thing is if there is any one left out ther that hasnt bought an xbox 360 that love's / enjoys halo will not be buying it any time soon as long as they offer every out coming halo game on computer they wont be able to optimize thier halo/ console sales. come on really buy a computer u can then really seem to play any micro game or well any other i spands toooo much.

I don't think it will be a system seller, I mean if you were gonna get on the Halo train you would have by now. Me personaly, I am tired of Halo, Reach is not a new experience its a prequel which means that we already know how this ends, when it comes to the online aspect, you can tell Halo lost some people, like me, when 3 came out, you can tell by the number of people who bought ODST. Anyway I am holding out hope for the new IPs like Alan Wake because its fresh and new not the same old crap we have been getting from Microsoft over and over again.
Although I am sure a whole bunch of people will buy Reach but it won't move consoles, at least not very many. Those of you that say that the 360 is still outselling the PS3 need to check again, the PS3 has been out selling the 360 for a good chunk of time world wide. Anyway don't kill the messanger although I bet I'm gonna get a ton of thumbs down because the xbots will think that I am a PS3 fanboy.

Halo 3 didn't convince me so Reach shouldn't. Really, Reach looks like a clone in my opinion. It's not 360 games that keep me from getting one, it's the online fee and less main stream 5 star hits. I'll stick with PS3 until 360 brings something else to the table instead of cheap excuses for Halo sequels.

360 doesn't really "need" a system seller. Sure it was overshadowed by the Wii, but as far as hardcore gaming, it leads its competition by a long shot. But all in all, i'm sure Microsoft can expect some 360 sales boosts when this game is released, like Sony did after Uncharted 2 and God of War 3.

I dont kno i have a PS3 now and i love it but i do like the halo series and having both platforms wouldnt be bad, but the halo reach is definatly guna move systems simply for the fact tht its halo

why would anybody buy an entire system for one game? lets say its the 360, boom! 199 bucks(plus tax) then of course the game 59.99(plus tax). thats pushing 300 dollars all for one game. well you have to get gears or maybe another halo game. theres 350. extra controller brings it up to 400-ish. going over to a friends house...priceless

If one looks back at the last NPD numbers it's evident that the 360 doesn't even need a blockbuster like Reach to sell a lot of consoles.
Even with GOW3 and FFXIII being released the 360 managed to pull in a higher sales number.
We'll find out soon enough, but if I was betting, it'd be Reach for the win.
I suspect it will eclipse all single format games.

I think most people who would by a 360 because of Halo all ready did so for H3, I know I did.
Reach is going to be great but I don't really see it drawing in that many new fans, and I don't think it needs to.
The Halo fanbase is clearly big enough that even if Reach is only bought by current fans it will still be a huge hit.

I don't think Reach is THE game that will make people go the store to pick up a 360 but I do think many people see it as another highly ranked game for the system. If you didn't pick up a 360 when Halo 3 came out I doubt you will when Reach finally drop. I think the only thing stopping consumers from picking up both systems is money. I have a 360 and I know if I had the money, I would have picked up the ps3 as soon as mgs 4 came out. Now God of War of 3 just came out. I would love to pick it up now but I just cannot afford it yet. I feel like other consumers face a similar problem.

Are system sellers not released early on in a consoles life span? I would say no purely based on the fact on how pretty much by now whom ever wants to own a 360 would own one by now.

I don't think so. Even though all the fan boys are staying strong to their Master Chief god, in reality Halo has fallen from grace and is not really the big dog on campus anymore.
