Title winners are still being decided across Europe's top-tier leagues and the World Cup still feels like an eternity away, but EA's not waiting to unleash more soccer madness. The publisher's dropping 2010 FIFA World Cup in stores today. I've logged in several hours with the latest licensed tournament game, and although it comes with caveats (it's a game with planned obsolescence, also, vuvuzelas), it's still a testament to EA's three-year plan to let you put your virtual self into the 2010 World Cup. After a week of four hours of sleep per night, what stood out the most to me? This:
"And like FIFA 10, it’s a great-looking game on the pitch, and new animations add new layers of depth to the title. The games seems to improve each year by introducing animation and movements that never seemed missing until you’ve seen them executed. Here, a physical skirmish in midfield might result in deflecting the ball off the ref if he’s too slow to move out of the way, or as I noticed in Captain Your Country, you might screw up a counterattack by accidentally bumping into your teammate as he’s attempting a run. It feels like a sensible evolution of the physicality that EA’s been trickling in year after year, and outside of the official logos and kits, it’s here that the game feels its most realistic."
32 of the world's best tacticians haven't even made their final decisions for who's going to South Africa. But you can beat them to the punch. Ready to write the World Cup by your standards? Click here to read my impressions. And Go US!

I played the demo..and to be honest, I got pumped up while playing. Not sure what it is but it brings a certain something with it that I have not experienced playing other sports games. This will be the first football/soccer game I purchase.

Is it really worth $60 though? I mean, isn't there a lack of teams/stadiums, etc that is in FIFA '10?

I just wish they would make the online play on Fifa 10 less laggy
