The idea of any fantasy-inspired massively-muliplayer online role-playing game threatening Blizzard’s World of Warcraft crown is difficult to imagine, and while Petroglyph is certainly giving it the old college try with their MMO for the HD generation, Rift: Planes of Telara, it looks like the game still has a ways to go before it threatens anyone’s superiority. At least, that’s according to Tom Price’s first look preview of the game:
“Rift: Planes of Telara (previously known as Heroes of Telara) is unabashedly a fantasy RPG full of magic and swords and elementals and every other D&D-derived creature like so many other games, but Rift seems to pride itself in some of its most obvious differences from the rest of the MMO pack.”

Man, people are so brainwashed by WoW it's getting retarded. Honestly, if anyone actually bothered to read up on the game or took interest in it they would find a game that is vastly different then WoW, even in Pre-Alpha stage. WoW didn't make the MMORPG genre, they just capitalized on making a game that was able to be played on an iphone by anyone.

WoW is a tired old game. It had its heyday, but most are moving on, except the diehards. But it is what it is, we like what we like.
