Red Dead Redemption Animated Film Airing On Fox In May

Boy. Rockstar wasn’t kidding when they said they were going to promote the hell out of Red Dead Redemption. Over the weekend, the game emblazoned the hood of NASCAR racer Joey Logano's #20 Toyota Camry, and today, we find out that Rockstar has a 30-minute animated film based on the hotly anticipated western game coming down the pipe.

The film is set to air on Fox on May 15 at midnight, a few days before the game goes on sale. Given the mature nature of the game, I’m dubious about how true to the source material the short film will be allowed to be. Then again, the fact that John Hillcoat directed it gives me hope, because The Proposition one of the best modern westerns around. Nothing else is known about the short at this point, but it’s definitely a big deal, since I can’t remember the last time a video game-based anything aired on network television.
