You might not know by looking at his imposing, stone-cold demeanor, but Andrew Pfister has a soft spot the size of a kingdom made of mushrooms for Mario. As such, we’re all very lucky he was wearing his joy overload pants during a recent preview session with Nintendo’s madly anticipated sequel Super Mario Galaxy 2. Although the actually hands-on part was limited, Andrew did get to try out Mario’s new Cloud Suit, and here’s a little of what he had to say about it:
“Using a spin move activates the power and places a cloud underneath Mario’s feet that will stay in place for about 7 or 8 seconds before dissipating (more Mario Science!). The cloud stays put wherever you activate the spin move, and you can only deploy 3 at a time, so dreams of building a cloud ladder express route to the end of the level will have to remain dreams.”
There are a ton of details about all the game’s new mechanics as well so be sure to read Andrew’s full Super Mario Galaxy 2 preview.
