Tony Hawk Ride

In “Time to Play Clean Up” news, Activision has gone ahead and confirmed what legendary skater Tony Hawk already Tweeted to the world earlier in the week: Tony Hawk: Shred is the next installment in the ironically downhill sliding skating franchise.

In addition to telling everyone what they already knew, Activision told Joystiq that “more details will be revealed in the coming months.” The big question at this point is whether Shred is the sequel to the abominable Tony Hawk: Ride that’s in the works or an entirely new game.

Given that Shaun White is doing a skateboarding game, I’m going to say Shred will be a snowboarding/skateboarding combo title that will require two board peripherals to play, because the peripheral-only requirement was so popular the first time around. And what’s better than one? Two, of course!

come on Tony, ditch the ride aspect and go back to the pro skater series roots, skate is trying to be too realistic, and thats whats ruining it, I want to have fun and do things I could never do in real life, like catch some massive ungodly amounts of air, hook us up Tony, the series is nowhere near washed up,you just gotta know how to make that come back man!!!

It better go for the Skate style of gameplay. If it doesnt then it will not survive.

wow. Isn't it weird the same thing happened with Gears of War 3? Seems like nobody can keep secrets anymore.... Come on Nintendo. "Accidently" reveal the next Legend of Zelda.

Yawn.. What instalment is this 400, 500? what they need to do is not make a game for 3-5 years come out with a new cool concept and then Say it is the last and best Tony Hawk game ever made.. And then.... Make 5-20 of those. and repeat.

*SINGS* London Bridge is falling down, falling down, falling down. Good bye Activision. Do we really need another Skateboard game? If it's good okay.

Tony needs to stop. It's kind of unfair to judge the game without seeing it first, but after Tony Hawk: Ride it looks like the developer might fall into the Sonic the Hedgehog trap--they're gonna add on as much as they can to every iteration at the expense of quality.

Proof positive that activision wont spare any expense to milk something for all its worth, even if its going to fail from the very start.

Awww man! i can only imagine Tony Hawk's complaint when the game gets released." You guys had your mind made up already, it's not fair, WAAAHHH WAHHH WAHHHHWAHHHHH!" as Kotick brushes his hair softly like a villain does to his cat in any james bond movie, while sitting on a chair made out of money.

I miss Tony Hawk Pro skater 2-4 and Underground. Hell, project 8 didn't even have a park editor. That made me  BRING BACK THE OLD STYLE!!

Hm, they made an awful game that 10 year olds begged and pleaded for. Why WOULDN'T they make a sequel?

Even if they did have enough sense to realize it was a horrible idea, do they even have the chops to put out a game that's going to be OK at this point?

    "Tony Hawk: Shred"

Are you sure that Activision hasn't just gone off the deep end and decided to have Neversoft combine Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero together? Maybe that's where the two peripherals come in. You have to play fake guitar while fake skateboarding.
