New DLC Planned For Batman: Arkham Asylum?

Batman: Arkham Asylum Preview

If recent job postings are any indication, it appears that Rocksteady is readying another round of downloadable content for its smash hit Batman: Arkham Asylum.

British gaming site Computer and Videogames reports that it received a position inquiry that asked, “Want to work on DLC for Batman: Arkham Asylum in London? Drop [us] a line.” This, coupled with a job posting a few months back on Rocksteady’s site for a lead artist to work on DLC for a “AAA title on the next generation platforms,” seems like a strong indication that bonus content for the game is certainly in the works.

Given that all we really know about Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 is a bunch of leaks about the game’s villains, and the game is rumored to be releasing in early 2011, it would be surprising if the game’s developers were already hard at work on downloadable content for the sequel. It’s much more likely that with Arkham Asylum 2 potentially getting pushed back, Eidos and Rocksteady have some time to kill. Plus, it will give them a chance to perhaps test out ideas for things they might want to include in the much anticipated sequel.

I poked Eidos about this, so I'll let you know if I hear anything.

As far as I am concerned it would be nice for them to make a patch or DLC to let you play through again complete with all upgrades earned. Another one would be if you could play through as either Catwoman, Nightwing, Batgirl or Robin. Just an idea but I doubt they will consider. Knowing them they'll make some more Rooms to battle or snooze through. And just for a wild idea if would be kinda funny to replace the voice work of Kevin Conroy with Adam West and let there be a skin to play as Retro Batman - if not just for laughs.

Some more content for Arkham Asylum would be nice while we wait for the sequel, but here's hoping that its more than just another fighting challenge map...not that I can really see how they'd make any other kind of DLC for the game. It's structure doesn't lend itself very well toward addition.

I don't think the second Batman game will be called Arkham Asylum 2. It does not take place on the island. I'm think more Batman: Gotham City.
