Capcom isn't taking their zombie-slaying simulator franchise into terribly new territory in Dead Rising 2, but the changes that are being introduced look to take what made the first game so enjoyable and kick it up several bloody notches. Our own Patrick Klepek recently checked out DR2 during Capcom’s recent Captivate event in Hawaii, and spoke with Capcom’s research and development head Keiji Inafune to find out more about Capcom’s upcoming sequel.
One of the discussion topics was the game’s new weapon creation system, which lets you build such glorious death dealers as the following:
“For example, placing a hard hat and a power drill on Dead Rising 2's work bench produced a hat of blood-fueled destruction when placed on a zombie's head. It's not exactly practical, as it only affects a single zombie, but it produces a serious amount of experience points for your character. Conversely, combining a rake and a car battery (with some duct tape, obviously) resulted in an electrified rake excellent at zombie crowd control.”

Split screen in Dead Rising doesn't really sound like a good idea to me. Can they even pull it off from a technical standpoint? This game is supposed to have upwards of 800 zombies on screen at once, if this was in split screen that would mean it would have to render each zombie twice on respectively. Frame rate nightmare!
