Vital Suits And Troopers Explode In New Lost Planet 2 Screens

With near-final versions of Lost Planet 2 in the hands of many game publications, Capcom came to Captivate 2010 in Hawaii with something that wasn't on the disc: downloadable content.

Specifically, the first wave of additional multiplayer maps for Lost Planet 2. The maps will be available as both a pre-order incentive and downloadable content after release. Capcom did not disclose how much the map pack might cost when released or if it would be available at launch.

The maps, dubbed "Helix" and "Back to the Island," are both water-centric and counter to the ice themes that dominated the original Lost Planet. "Helix" takes place underwater and actually introduces a minor swimming mechanic to the gameplay, allowing users to essentially tread water and maintain their height position. "Back to the Island" is loaded with delicious mechs.

Lost Planet 2 comes with 10 maps already on the disc with support for up to 16-players.

I am really starting to get annoyed with DLC, I feel like developers just use it as an excuse to with hold content and charge for it later now. At least humor me and wait at least a month or so before you anounce DLC. Anouncing DLC before your game even comes out, just feels like you decided to withhold content from the actual game.

As fun as multiplayer in this game could be I kinda hope they take a page from the recent Splinter Cell game and put out some co op game modes. There's a reason games like Castle Crashers and Borderlands did so well and I can assure you that it wasn't the multiplayer that hooked players.

If you have a good co op game don't be afraid to flaunt it and monopolize on it. It will sell your game. Ask Gearbox if you don't believe me.
