The below YouTube video from PCGamerUK uses the Modern Warfare 2 credits to graphically illustrate the number of employees who have jumped ship from Infinity Ward in recent weeks. Check it out:
That's probably not all, though.
According to industry analyst Michael Pachter, the body count could grow soon. “We think that recent Activision share weakness has been compounded by additional departures at Infinity Ward which accelerated this week, and we expect another 10 – 20 employees to depart over the next few months,” he said.
“In our view, the company will likely replace the departed employees with skilled developers, and while increased competition may impact sales of future versions of Modern Warfare, we expect the company to put out a competitive product.”
When that many of your top staff leave at once, I wonder how competitive your future product can realistically be expected to be.

Dude, you need to chill the hell out man. The only people i remember getting laid off from IW was the the two heads of the company, Vince and Jason. Everyone else i believe has left on there own accord. Also, you really had to go for a gay sex joke. Really? I mean, if hate the cheatin a##holes so much, why do you speak like so many of them?
Activison is already having problems and they are in for a heap more next fiscal year. EA and EA partners (Valve really) have a huge amount of awesome games coming out. So does Epic, and Nintendo. Bobby will learn not to mess with a company that made his toilet seat gold. When the next COD doesn't do very well, and the one after flops, then he will see it where it hurts the most, his wallet.

thats good that game sucks and so do the CEO's that work there. I wish that game wasn't filled with all the cheatin a##holes. so the company decides to do five hundred more patchs to fix a messed up game. Those people getting laid off will realized the company they work for is a bunch of stick it in your backside no reacharound mother%%ckers. Man i hate that game.

i only hope this means people will stop buying activisions cruddy cod games. there all so glitchy, broken and they are all unimaginitive cash cows

Well, there are two things I want to say here. First, good for the IW (or ex-IW) staff for jumping ship. It serves Activision and Bobby Kotick right for exploiting IW, the COD franchise and we, the gamers as well. I hope the majority end up at Respawn.
Second, although I am not a big fan of Activision at this time, I can't say the next iteration of COD:MW is automatically going to suck. The folks that left the company are fantastic storytellers and designers, but they are not the only talent in town. There is many more established and up and coming talent out there. Who knows. We may get lucky and still get a great COD:MW game some time down the road.
And hopefully, Bobby Kotick and the current Activision corporate regime will be ridden out on a rail before then... ;)

you know, everyone hates on Activision for making as many spin offs as possible, and yet those same people go out and buy those spins offs. I just don't get it. Oh and BURN ACTIVISION BURN!

Most of the stroked out names are repeated several times, so it's not as bad as it looks.

I don't know the exact legalities of the situation, but I just hope that Respawn ends up doing the nest Modern Warfare. Otherwise Activision will either fill the shell of Infinity Ward with some inexperienced cronies who will do whatever Activision tells them to do or hand the franchise off to Treyarch. Am I correct in assuming that none of us gamers want that to happen?
smitske
Actually IW was also scheduled to make MW 3 by 2011, which most likely won't happen because it is possible IW wont be allowed to do so because W/Z have to give the go for it.
Boogie1188
MW2 will likely be the last CoD from IW. They're not making a CoD until 2012 at the latest (if it ever happens), according to Activision; Treyarch has this year's and some other company is taking the 2011 edition. And they can't make any post-Vietnam games with permission from the former heads of IW, so maybe no MW sequel.

MW2 might just be the last good COD from IW. The people that really matter in shaping a game are the department leads. If i'm not mistaken, that's who seems to be mostly leaving. Hopefully they'll find a job at Respawn to help keep most of the team together.

Michael Pachter is always saying things that other gamers are thinking. Sometimes he's right, sometimes he's wrong, but he gets paid for it. I'm just jealous.
As for this bit of news... once Respawn is running at full throttle, I wouldn't be surprised to see most of the IW staff jumping over.

BURN ACTIVISION BURN

Activision is a large company, and i doubt they will have trouble filling the emtpy spaces with skilled personnel. But if I see another IW MW game, it won't be viewed as a coninuation of MW 1 and 2, it will be viewed with the same skepticism as a completely new IP from a new company.

@ConDAWG looks like smitske beat you to it while you were typing. Now don't you just feel like an idiot? You should... even if you had made it before him.
Speaking of people who should feel like idiots right now...Oh Bobby...looks like you've gone and shot yourself in the foot.
pumathehero
it's going to be sad when i start looking forward to the Treyarch CoD games.... sad.
jedimasterchief9
All but one of the story staff left. Now the story and missions are going to suck. Every mission from CoD2, 4, and 6 (MW2) felt and was epic. There is no other experience like it.
IBloodstormI
Activision replaced EA as the Anit-christ of gaming companies a when their development strategy became "a new game in the series every year, and as many spin offs as possible."
ConDAWG
All I can say is FIRST. Also hahahah Activision I hope you burn for what you did not paying the guys who made the game. When a company like that is in control it's not good for anyone. I predict in around 3 months IW will be completely gone.
