Legendary developer Hideo Kojima has created some of the most acclaimed games of all time, but if things don’t go well, his next project could be his last.
Japanese gaming watchdog AndriaSang (via Gamasutra) noticed yesterday that Kojima had posted several teases on Twitter about his next project. The first rather striking message read:
“The next project will challenge a certain type of taboo. If I mess up, I'll probably have to leave the industry. However, I don't want to pass by avoiding that. I turn 47 this year. It's been 24 years since I started making games. Today, I got an ally who would happily support me in that risk. Although it's just one person. For a start, it's good."
Beyond apocalyptic proclamations about his gaming future, Kojima has been understandably vague about the game. "I still do not have the details embedded, but everything is running simultaneously in my head. The title, game design, story, characters, setting, mechs, casting, direction of the graphics, sound, beginning and ending, and key story sequences. It all molds together naturally in my head," Kojima explained.
“Taboo” and “mechs”? Since I’m pretty sure the world isn't quite ready for a robotic Rapelay game, I’m going to go ahead and say I have no idea what Kojima has rattling around in his head with regards to his next game. But I will go out on a limb and say we should be seeing a teaser site/countdown clock any minute now.

You gotta think about it. Kojima has been doin' this for a while. Sooner or later he's gonna be gone. And even though that's the last thing we want, maybe he's run out of fuel if you know what I mean. But that's one though. The man could have eons of pages of idea hiding around...lurking. Iuno...I'm hoping for something as epic as Mgs.

i would love a sequel to rapelay, with giant mech dicks and a more flushed out story, i want to know what my motivation is for raping these women, for example did they wrong me in some way or am i just a perv. i also think there should be some big name anime characters in it like yoko or major matoko. a multiplayer element should be added like co op so me and my a friend can double team a girl, there can be a gang bang element for 4 player co op, and for vs. mode how about mechs vs. potential rape victim someone could play the victim running from another player playing as the mech. oh and just because the game is taboo and he's japanese doesnt mean he is going to make a hentai game you racist.

Actually, I doubt the "taboo" he's talking about has anything to do with the topic or genre of this next project. My guess is it probably has more to do with adopting a more western style of game development. In recent years he's made some high profile visits to western studios and is currently engaged in some kind of collaboration with the Lord of Shadows developers. I think he'll perhaps attempt to adopt the more collaborative design approach common in western development in his own studio, or maybe engage in a close collaboration with a western studio in a transpacific experiment.

ive only played mgs 3 snake eater and that was an amazing game if hes still got the imagination he had then im pretty sure his new project will be a booming success i might get a ps3 soon so i can play mgs 4 along with other fantastic ps3 exclusives
