Dead Space Prequel Novel AnnouncedVisceral Games’ action-horror series Dead Space has already been turned into a comic book series and an animated comic, and later this year, the game’s narrative will be expanded even further with the prequel novel, Dead Space: Martyr.

Published by Tor Books and penned by popular horror author B.K. Evenson, Martyr “delves into the back story of the fiction including the history of the Church of Unitology, the discovery of the enigmatic ‘Black Marker’ and the mysteries behind an alien artifact of unknown power.”

“The Dead Space world is incredibly vast and rich -- expanding its fiction into a novel lets us share parts of the story that just can’t fit into videogames. We hope Dead Space: Martyr will be the first of many books to let fans dive deeply into Dead Space’s secrets and immersive lore,” Dead Space 2 executive producer Steve Papoutsis explained in an official press release.

Dead Space: Martyr goes on sale in July for $14.99.
