UPDATE: 2:00 p.m. PST - Ubisoft just posted an update on Twitter, saying, "Freezing issues with Splinter Cell: Conviction have been resolved. Happy sneaking."
Attention Splinter Cell: Conviction players. Ubisoft has some important information to share with you about the wide-spread freezing issues that are cropping up in the game: avoid the release-day update!
Turns out that the title update Ubisoft put out today is causing something funky to happen during the game’s second mission, resulting in the always appreciated game freeze. Ubisoft is well aware of the issue, and posted the following message on the game’s official forum:
“We are currently investigating a freezing issue seen in the title update that was released for Splinter Cell: Conviction on the Xbox 360 this morning. This issue only happens after installing the update and we have asked Microsoft to remove the update for the time being until we can determine the cause and fix the issue. If you have installed the update please remove it and play through the impacted mission again.”
A number of readers reported encountering the freezing issue, so hopefully removing the update will solve those problems.

I am not a fan of this genre, but it sucks to not be able to play a game you just paid $65 bucks.

You can just choose to not DL the update, but until MS removes the update you cannot play MP or coop over the internet.

something else they need to address..a huge number of the usb drives included in the collectors editions are defective..including mine damn it..this is a pretty crappy way to treat your customers..

why is it that all these games have updates. I never remember problems that needed sudden fixing on last gen consols. Everythime I get a new game it tkaes 30 min. to install. Is it because the games are more complicated or the systems just allow you to update the version so they do it? It seems like they cause more problems than they fix

Glad I got this news before I went to gamestop. Im hoping mine doesn't freeze, since i want to use the suppressed shotgun. I've been waiting for this game for 3 years. Don't fail on me Ubisoft.
