Warhammer Online Inadvertently Adds Charges To Players' Credit Cards

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning

If you play Warhammer Online, you should check your bank account, quick.

Yesterday, gamers started flooding Mythic Entertainment's Warhammer Online forum with reports that the company billed them repeatedly for services they neither requested nor wanted. Some report multiple charges that add up to over $1,000. Of course many gamers don't have that kind of cash sitting in their account, and that means many were also charged overdraft fees.

Mythic quickly responded, reassuring (?) gamers that it is a billing error, and not a hack, all monies will be returned, and their personal and financial information is safe. Andy Belford, Mythic Community Coordinator, posted the following:

"Our security has not been compromised. These unfortunate events of overcharging are nothing more than a billing error which is being expeditiously dealt with through our vendor. "

The company promises to fix the situation as quickly as they can, posting:

We have confirmed with our vendor that players who have been charged multiple times for their subscriptions should start seeing a reversal of charges within 24-36 hours. We anticipate that once the charges have been reversed, any fees that have been incurred should be refunded as well.

If you're affected by the mistake, or if there's a problem with the reimbursement of any bank fees, check out Mythic's Herald for a step-by-step instructions on how to take care of the problem.

I actually screwed them out of 6 months worth of sub money when I quit playing(accidently). When I quit, I deleted all my toons and they charged my an extra month. When I called them to complain, they refunded me for like 8 months of sub money. My only guess is that the deleted toons showed that I hadn't played in that time. It is no surprize to me this happened through their 3rd party(not Mythic) that was taking care of this.
