Check out this absolutely amazing fan-film tribute to Modern Warfare 2. According to its creators, it was made for $209.42. Nice work, Niko Pueringer & Sam Gorski. I hope Hollywood is paying attention.

Check out the full credits here.

There's no way this movie was made for $209.42, and I really wish the gaming press would stop passing along the illusion and instead remember a little English film called "Colin" that made headlines at Cannes for being shot for "only 45 pounds sterling," or $70.

That turned out to be totally untrue, of course. It was just a marketing hook to draw attention to the film, which in the end wasn't very good. Not saying this MW2 fanfilm is correspondingly not good, I found it entertaining enough, but it certainly was not shot for the advertised price.

With "Colin," it turned out that a lot of the stuff was "donated." Those are artificial conditions placed upon the shoot. To really figure out how much it cost, you need to factor all those costs in. Someone paid them, just not the filmmaker - so the actual cost of Colin was much, much higher.

Same with this MW2 film. Just the squibs alone must have cost more than $209.42. What about the computers used to process the effects - how much did they cost? How about the time of the programmers? The electricity you used while running those computers? A line producer would have to factor all of that stuff in on a shoot.

Can't we just say "This is a neat fan film," and leave it at that? If it's not good enough to get media attention without the hook, is it really that good?

If Hollywood had made this it would have probably had three extra zeros tacked onto the price. Wasn't much of a story but, excellent attention to detail and I liked the gun sounds / shooting blood clouds better than most big budget movies.

They need to pool their resources and make the Clerks version of an action film.

    I would watch it.

Pretty darn good for 200 bucks and free time. And as another poster said, the characters just "felt right" and were very convincing for the part. Two thumbs from me.

Hey Redd75 yeah its not the most amazing thing, but for something amateur that's really impressive. If they ever got to make a full length hollywood backed version I'd buy it no questions asked.

all thing considered, it was entertaining and the characters felt right. it was almost like a snippet from a side-job that they didn't take very seriously. the budget considered it was very well done and i havn't seen a fan film this well done outside of the handful of half-life 2 fan films, and i'm pretty sure those used quite a bit more money

Wow, you people that are calling this 'amazing' and 'better than most war movies out now' must be very easily entertained.

It was good. Have to agree with Oinkness though. Also, why in the hell was he trying to remove his front grip on his rifle when he was reloading? lol

If they can make that for just over $200, imagine what they could do with a budget like avatar. These guys should be professional producers and directors. If they made it a feature length film i'd buy it fs'show.

The sign at 2:37 is crude Russian and is roughly translated as: "We already moved Anya. Find her in the next part. Second part in the near future. In the near few weeks." Pretty cool trivia.

The video's awesome, by the way.

Considering the circumstances, this movie really is pretty sweet. Excellent pace and effects but the dialog needs improving. Overall 8/10
