Jack White, the lead singer and guitarist for White Stripes, has some advice for would-be musicians: Quit playing video games.
An NME interviewer asked White for three pieces of advice young artists should heed, and he said: "They need to quit playing video games, throw away their Auto-Tune program and cut three strings off their guitar."
In the past, White has said that "It's depressing to have a label come and tell you that [Guitar Hero] is how kids are learning about music and experiencing music."
Not so depressing that White would refuse to make money off music games, of course. There are three White Stripes songs on Rock Band ("Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground," "Girl, You Have No Faith in Medicine," and "Icky Thump,") as well as a track in Guitar Hero V. For that matter, Jack's other band, Raconteurs, has a full track pack in Guitar Hero: World Tour.
So here's three pieces of advice for Jack White: 1) Get a bass player. 2) For that matter, get a drummer. 3) Stop being a hypocrite!
