Sorry, Killzone 2 fans. It looks like you’ll have to settle for stupid old 2D Helghast slaying for the foreseeable future. In a statement released to IGN UK, Sony addressed last week’s news about Guerilla Games’ shooter, as well as a number of other PlayStation 3 titles, receiving the 3D treatment with the next PlayStation 3 firmware update.
“As we wanted to give our viewers an idea of the possibilities that 3D gaming has to offer, we decided to use stock footage of several first-party games that were on display at the show, including Killzone 2 (a 3D version of the television commercial was shown at CES)…Unfortunately, our feature did not make it clear that the 2D game footage was included for demonstration purposes only. We apologize for the erroneous inference that 3D versions of [LittleBigPlanet], Wipeout HD, Killzone 2, Gran Turismo 5 or Super Stardust HD are in production.”
This might just be Sony simply covering itself because the information was prematurely released, but I have a feeling that most Killzone 2 players aren’t going to be terribly heartbroken over this news anyway.

3D gaming is lame anyway. Waste of resources, companies could be using these investments of time and money for things like actually improving game play or being original, you know, make something that isn't an FPS for a change. Like the good old days.

killzone2 would probably be the only game I would think of playing in 3D. But Im still against 3D gaming.

try nvidia's 3d vision. Once you try it, you'll never think it's a gimmick ever again. It's the only time I actually got scared playing L4D

The 3D thing is getting out of hand. Yes, it looks awesome but what does it really add that would enhance the gaming experience other than visuals? It's a cash in gimmick and companies, movie and gaming alike, really need to stop putting such an emphasis on it.

ehhhh, I'm if-y on the 3D thing, I'll like it, but I don't want to give them thousands of dollars more than I already have just for it to happen. It really doesn't matter to me whether my games are 3D or not, I would love to play a 3D game, but I don't care if I don't get to and I don't care if it bombs or skyrockets

3D Is by far the most stupid gimmick ever invented... at universal studios it works but every where else its just broken.. Avatar was ok with 3D.. but it still had issues.
Stop with the 3D Already!! the real reason they are doing it is for the money not because it makes the film/game actually better..

Does anyone care about 3D? I dont mind watching 3D for some movies but ever since Avatar came out everyone wants to make their movies and games have 3D format! even though its wasnt made to support 3D cough cough Clash of the Titans. Im happy to know that Killzone 3 will not support 3D if it didnt support 3D I think alot of Killzone Fans would be extremly pissed

I'm still on the fence about this whole 3D thing. I'm mean it would have to look pretty amazing to get me on board. It would also have to look better then games already do in HD because if it don't then I see no point in upgrading.

I don't see what everyone who doesn't like 3D's fuss is. It's going to be the same way HD was when it started up.
We look at it and think it's amazing, "ooh"ing and "ahh"ing all over the place while the people without the money to upgrade (the group I'm apart of) whine and complain saying that it's too much money and not worth it....then we'll actually see the difference, hopefully right next to one another, and we'll be sold.
It's not like it's going to make any real difference anyway. I've got both High Def and standard def tv's and I play games on both. Sure the HD looks better but the standard still works. I'll probably end up getting 3D cause it IS better, but I know I won't need it. I don't see why people are mad at the whole "not needing it" thing....you don't need HD

I still don't see why people have a problem with 3D for games. The only problem you have with it is that the TV's and glasses will cost a lot. And if you're complaining about look dumb wearing the glasses get the fkuck over yourself. Come up with a better reason, like maybe for example the games *might* cost a little extra, that's a good reason to not be cool with it.. Damn cry babies.

KZ2 may not have 3D, but you can bet your bottom dollar KZ3...D will. Killzone 2 is kinda old news, Killzone 3 is where the marketing hype will be.

For bleeps sakes!!! The games are already 3D graphics, what are people crying about? I like my games like they are now thank you. a 3,000 dollar TV upgrade will not make me feel better playing a nice game. For that this days I get my cheap thrill on the movies like for 2 hours and that's it. 3D gaming in our homes is not the future nor the standard at this point, not when only the people that can afford this TV's (plus extra glasses) are trust fund babies and people that just want to lower their credit score 300 points less than they have it.

I've really had it with the 3D thing. It's getting annoying now. I buy a game to play it--2D graphics or not. For anybody wanting the whole 3D thing: power to you. Frankly, I'm okay with Killzone 2 staying the way it is.
