No Female Agents In Crackdown 2

No Female Agents In Crackdown 2

I play every video game as a female character if given the option. I don't know why. I just do. Sadly, I won't have that option when Crackdown 2 comes out. The game will not offer girl-cops.

“In Crackdown, the amount of memory that it was going to take for it to do all the actual animation, the texture sets and the models for the females – we would’ve needed to massively reduce other sections of the game,” creative director Billy Thomson told 1UP at PAX East last week. “So rather than do two separate models, we cut it back and gave the player as much customization as we could on the male character and that allowed us to use that extra memory to do other things in the game.”

"It's actually the same reason again," Thomsen said. "When it came to Crackdown 2, you've got four players (in cooperative play), and that means every single player can be a different character and that has to be in memory all the time. We had to save memory all over the place because we've got so much more content in this game than we had in the first game. We don't stream."

"It'd be great (to have female characters), but what we were going to lose didn't seem like it'd be worth it. If we had more memory, it'd be okay."

Also: No Yeti agents. Probably because they don't have the real-life models. Once we catch Bigfoot, I'm sure there will be Yetis options in all games.

I have to agree with Christ0bell. A lot of the follow up games coming out this year are all including customization. It would be nice if they offered that in Crackdown 2. Maybe even a little evironment destruction?? I don't mean exploding flammable barrels either. I mean I would love to see the actual buildings blow up for a change, or at least the boss locations. They're massive in scale, and are pretty much a silent major player in the whole feel of the game. The biggest selling point of the first one was the fact that you can jump from building to building in order to find each boss. How cool would it be to not only be able to fight the boss and their small army, but also destroy their entire base of operations once you've taken out your target?? Oh well, just a idea to make an already awesome looking game look even better. Either way I'm still buying it!!

ive seen zip on character customization in this game. and if all they do if..well you can change your face..like they did in the last one then at least give us the option to change armour/ colour etc.

ppl want customization! Halo Reach has got it..Brink has got it..LP2 has got it. and a shed load of other games for the future i should expect.

How do you not know why you choose a female character? You're probably playing a game for God knows how many hours...who's butt are you going to want to have to stare at all that time?

I find it funny that borderlands developer changed lilith from male to female and these guys can't. GameInformer just had an article about even though there's female gamers there's few female characters outside of RPGs

I find this stuff funny. These excuses are ridiculous. They had female agents almost done for Crackdown 1. why not use that for a base for crackdown 2. and why does memory always come up with this. it'd take the same amount if they did it right.

I'm sure a lot of gamer girls would disagree with the idiots above. Guys aren't the only ones who play games these days.

Thats kinda lame since I like to use female characters from time to time, yet again it wont really change my opinion of the game.

    This is a joke.
There are tons of games out there that let you choose between male and female and it's never been a problem for them.Maybe they should give Bioware a call cause not only can you choose sex but each sex has it's own voice actor!.
Do we actually believe Crackdown 2 is going to be so massive that games like Oblivion and Dragon Age pale in comparison? I think not.
This was a cheap and lazy move plain and simple.

I mean with crackdown it would be one of those damned if you do damned if you don't kind of things. Look at it from this angle, we all know in crackdown you start off as some scrawny little rookie agent. As you gain experience you get bigger, to the point where you look like a genetically altered supercop. In the case of a female character, it can go one of two way. Either she'll look scrawny like the fellas, but as she gets stronger, it's pretty safe to assume she'll look badass like the guys, but not without breast enhancements, and her figure going from teenage math geek, to hot bombshell with huge boobs. In which case would cause a pointless uproar from all walks of life talking about how Crackdown objectify women, and how sexist the game is. Or it can go totally opposite, to where she'll start off small, and then end up looking really butchand as big as the guys on the game. At which point you'll get all of the female gamers complaining about how Crackdown didn't think hot attractive girls play this game, and would like to have a character reflect how they would see a female on this game. So smart move on the developer's part, they just said forget it no female characters at all!! As a black guy I'm just happy they have two black characters to choose from. With or without dredlocks!! LOL!!

if theres a choice i never pick the female character i always go with the male simply because thats what i am and my girlfriend doesnt mind there are no female agents shes still going to be blowing things up with me so thats all that matters to me.

some guys like playing as female characters i know my gay friend does but well thats just him but even straight guys do and i just dont get that. i mean come on there just pixalated characters so its not because o there so hot when you can get a real girl. well i dont know but ill be playing crackdown 2 when it finally comes out

You know, I always pick the female character as well. I could talk about several reasons why I think I do that, but after considering each one of them I'm still not sure I know why. It's not as simple as wanting to see some pleasing curves throughout my game experience, and not as complex as me wanting to explore my underlying excitement for gender reversal (I'm not wearing panties today I swear)

This would make an excellent discussion to open up to the crowd...
