Some of us have already dragged ourselves back into the G4 offices, others are just hopping off a plane, but in either case, it's official: PAX East is over. The first annual PAX on the east coast has come to an end and the general consensus was that it kicked some serious ass, mostly because of you guys! Just because we're tired doesn't mean we're not shooting a new episode of Feedback. We'll be talking PAX East and other topics, but also want your input. What should we chat about?

With the poor economic conditions and the increased risk involved with creating a new video game franchise, do you see more companies attempting franchise revivals like the movie industry does? With the established community base of some of the popular franchise's in previous systems, my example being the Chrono Trigger community or Earthbound of the snes era, do you think this would provide enough of a base to relaunch innovative games based on the same setting/story?

With the overwhelming success of PaX East despite the very cold weather and some key development studios missing (Capcom, En Masse, and Nintendo), o you think that this is a wake up call for more companies to open up more east coast development studios so that they can find more talent across a wider landscape and potently help the video game industry grow even more?

well incase it shows up later my post did not show up the first time so here it is again i have learned to copy what i type before i submit it for cases like this.
according to the wall street journal and reported by 1up.com (http://www.1up.com/do/newsSto ry?cId=3178540) and engadget mobile (http://www.engadget.com/2010/ 03/29/wsj-apple-developing-new -iphone-plus-another-for-veriz on/) it's been reported that verizon is finally getting a new generation of the iphone. if true what do you think this means as in terms of the iphone reaching more people? Also that apple claims it is a gaming platform seeing how it has already overtaken the PSP in market share going by that chart that was all over the gaming news. or do think it's too little too late and that someone like the google android OS will soon overtake mobile os market as is predicted by some since it is open source and gaining lots of momentum.

As reported by Patrick Klepek during PAX East Dead Space executive producer Steve Papoutsis didn't deny the possibility of releasing Dead Space: Extraction on the PSN & XBLA. As wonderful and woefully underappreciated as the games Wii release was could the introduction of the Playstation Move and Microsoft's Project Natal usher in the end of M-Rated titles for the Wii?
With publisher's such as Sega already stating that it's unlikely to make future M-Rated games for the Wii will this year's release of HD motion controls forever make Nintendo's system a T-Rated and under console? More over is this necessarily a bad thing given how relatively low the sales seem to be for M-Rated games on the Wii, games that might have been embraced by a wider audience had they been released on a different platform?

I come from the world of pen-and-paper RPG's and games such as Mass Effect, Fallout 3, and Dragon Age never felt like true RPG's. To me, they always felt more connected to the action genre than anything else. In your collective opinion, what are the defining features of the video game RPG?

Having recently played the hit-and-miss Metro 2033, a weird thing occurred that hasn't happened once in my gaming life. I was urged to go read the book that the game was based (English translation coming soon) but I took it a step further, a novel on the wonderful world of rapture would be such an awesome book. Can there possibly be a future with literature and video games?

I would like to hear your comments on the class action lawsuit happening against Gamestop.
I understand where the plaintiff is coming from, but then there a lot of us would see where common sense should apply to buying a used game. I just hope the plaintiff win so it A) brings down the cost of newer used games to the point where the DLC will bring the total price in line with a new version. B) make them have to put lawyer speak everywhere so people that don't understand what they are buying (i.e. non-gamers). If they lower the cost I might just buy used games from Gamestop if its a game I know I wont buy the DLC for or play multiplayer. In the end the game might change my mind and I might just pony up the charge for the DLC in the end if the game is worth it.

Do you think the monster success of PAX and PAX East will effect other conventions, specifically E3? Obviously with the huge demand for these gaming conventions, that allow the public to attend, other organizers must be paying attention. Will they allow more of the public to attend? And, is that something you in the game media want or approve of?

It's amazing how many great games are coming out in these first few months of 2010.
Unfortunately, i have two of three of the major consoles(low on cash at the moment), and from what I'm seeing, I'm really missing out on some great games.
My question to you guys is.. Do you think having games exclusive to a console is a good idea?
Having a game restricted to one console means that less people are going to be able to be able to play it than if it was released to multiple platforms.
Then again, an exclusive game (such as GoW3) having to be downgraded to meet the needs of the Wii sounds kinda terrible.

I have noticed that some third party games have been advertised specifically with one console when they are cross platform releases. Does it help the publisher to be linked with one console when casual gamers do not take the time to investigate? And do they really help sales for that console when buyers, particularly parent, go into a store with only the title to guide them?

To Adam:
Not much a question but more of a remark about the Soapbox where you talked about open world and liner gameplay. I fully agreed with you on the points you brought up but i was slightly surprised, and somewhat disappointed, when you failed to mention inFAMOUS as a sort of...exception to the rule. Granted, it still is an open world game and you have control over how the story shapes up but I never once felt that the story took a back seat or suffered because of that and the "Keyser Sze/Adrian Veidt" like ending took me completely by surprised. I think developers should learn from inFAMOUS on how to have an open world game and keep the narrative tight enough as to not lose the player from a storyline perspective.
PS - If I ruined the inFAMOUS ending for you and The Watchmen big moment then shame on you for not playing the game and not reading that graphic novel.
PSS - I was utter the words "Prince of Persia (2008)" a mere second before you mentioned it when you talked about how open world games can really brake and dilute the story.

Should games be punished for being weak on single-playerlike MW2 and Bad Company 2?
Zx2654
do you think that heir are different mind sets for people playing multi-player and single-player because I can beat hard mode on Mega man 9 but I can't get a single kill on online play.

Having played games like Uncharted 2 and New Super Mario bros. where you only have one goal and games like Infamous, Mass Effect, and Pokmon where you shape your character and story. Do you think that their is a seperate definition between a video game and interactive entertainment? I am not saying video games are bad I am just saying in games like Uncharted 2 I am not shaping the story line or my character like in RPGs. I also understand that there could be one piece of interacve entertainment that can let you do what ever you want which is impossible.

Many people say God of War 3 is just a button masher, but it's really an evolution of gameplay that games like the first few dynasty warriors started. With lots of next gen games like Max Payne 3 and others coming out this year, what changes do you think could be made to older titles to evolve and refresh their gameplay and make them to truly take advantage of this console generation's hardware?

It took almost 50 years to have and to play and to enjoy, really great games like " Uncharted 2 " - " Modern Warfare 2 " - " Batman Arkham Asylum " - " Metro 2003 " and " Heavy Rain " etc.
My question is ?
Are the " Wii " and " MS Natal " and the " Sony Move " not taking the industry as a whole in the cheapest, and very wrong direction.
Who wants video games that demand athletic abilities to play, and have giant terrible looking pixels once again ? Remember " Duck Hunt " . Wake up and give your heads a shake - Nintendo - Sony and Microsoft - Sally Wong

With more and more games including elements that require internet connections to use or in the case of new Ubisoft games, to play, what can gamers do to prevent or avoid loosing major functionality when a studio or publisher decides to stop support those features. Sometimes a patch is released that changes these features to offline features, but there is always the chance that a less-popular game doesn't get the same treatment. Is this the way the entire industry is moving towards in the future?

The footage of Dead Space 2 shown at PAX East has me completely split. It certainly left a great first impression. It looked tremendous and looked like it could be a lot of fun. But it left me wondering...is this what I want from Dead Space?
Personally I was looking forward to a game with better scares, an even better atmosphere, a bigger gameworld and just a generally refined gameplay experience. Maybe I'm not thinking big enough for a sequel, and my line of thinking would lead us to just more of the same - but between this footage and the recent news that Visceral would be taking cues from high-action titles like Modern Warfare and Uncharted 2, I worry for what the game could have been.
I'm sure the end product will be great, but am I not the only one that feels that IF Dead Space 2 does go the high-action, balls-to-the-wall pacing, high octane direction that it could turn out to be a big missed opportunity? That instead of having one of the last 'bastions' (if you will) of Survival Horror we'll wind up with just another action game with a few scary bits?
