X-Play: Splinter Cell: Conviction Co-Op Campaign Preview

The prospect of stepping into elite spy, and justifiably pissed off rogue agent, Sam Fisher in Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction has me visibly giddy (if you could see me, it would be embarrassing for both of us). That’s why I’m so happy to be able to share this X-Play All Access preview of Ubisoft’s upcoming iteration in their acclaimed stealth-action franchise.

In this preview, we take a look at Conviction’s co-op mode, and as the game’s creative director Maxime Beland explains, the co-op isn’t just a robust standalone game mode; it serves a narrative purpose as well.

“The co-op campaign is very interesting because it’s a full story. It’s about six hours, and it’s actually the prequel to the single-player story. So in single-player, we’ve got EMP bombs that are brought into Washington D.C., and the co-op is actually the story about how those EMP bombs came to Washington.”

I love when developers expand a game’s narrative beyond the single-player campaign, and Conviction looks to take this approach to an exciting new level. Check out the full interview below:
