We desperately wanted to talk about God of War III on last week's episode of Feedback, but the Game Developers Conference prevented some us from, uh, progressing very far past the title screen. Adam Sessler, Abbie Heppe, Matt Keil and I all managed to finish God of War III before heading into the studio to record this week's episode of Feedback, however, which means it quickly turned into an all-out spoilercast, discussing the game's ups and downs from the inside out.
As such, this week's Feedback comes with a word of caution: in-depth God of War III spoilers abound! If you haven't finished God of War III, be very mindful when we start that discussion up.
Elsewhere in this week's Feedback...
- Nintendo surprised all of us by announcing the Nintendo 3DS, a 3D-enabled version of their dual-screened handheld that apparently won't require glasses. Speculation drive, engage!
- We spend a whole heck of a lot of time talking about Sony Santa Monica's God of War III and whether Kratos and players found what they were looking for by the time the credits rolled.
- Our reader question of the week also probes into God of War III, asking us to consider what it's like when characters take unexpected turns, sometimes against the desire of the player.
Feedback, trying desperately to stop swearing in front of a camera since the times of Zeus.

Search for "Johny Chung Wii headtracking" and you will see the technique that nintendo is most probably using for their "3D" effect without glasses. That is not true 3D, but it does create a very good sense of depth. It could theoretically use the same technique with any other console or TV to do that kind of 3D effects, if only software incorporated it. That kind of 3D effect only needs to know the player's head relative to the TV/display to create that simple kind of depth. Would be nice if Gran Turismo included it with the PSEYE to use headtracking in racing.....

I was wondering where all the references were from! Cause when Hades said I killed his wife, I was like "I...did?" cause I played all the games except Chains of Olympus. I loved the ending, like they were saying, it didn't show him as a mindless brute who's hell-bent on killing Zeus. It was bold and it really paid off, in my opinion. One last thing, Pandora is a really, really good character. I liked they way they had Kratos and her form some kind of connection and she helps him see beyond his hate and rage and that there is more inside of him. One of the best games I've ever played, bar none.
P.s. Did you guys see the video after the credits? I'm surprised you guys didn't talk about it but if you didn't know it was there, I can see why you didn't talk about it lol

Now I really want to go out to my living room, and smash my ps3 on the floor for it's bad blu ray drive even more now...I really want to finish GOW3!!! I'll have to settle with this 360 Dante rental for now....someone please respond if they have good info...Does playing dvds on PS3 trash the bluray? Or is it just the updates?

Wow... Talk about spoilers for God of War 3. Thankfully, I finished 2 days ago. HE-HE!!!
I think Kratos is one of the most interesting and fully fleshed out characters in gaming. I've been thinking about this since I started GOW 3 last week. I never thought that he was just a big dumb brute. I've played all the games and I appreciated the depth that they showed in him at the end and I thought it made perfect sense. It reminded me a lot of some of the things Snake went through in MGS 4.
P.S. Sessler... I agree. No more 3D. No more James Cameron.

Ok seriously NO MORE 3D. So sick of it. I have never played a game and thought wow this would be good if it was in 3D. Everyones going to spend all their time making the 3d look good and all the game play and story is gonna suffer. boooo!!!

I actually used the Claws of Hades the most. I loved the combos with them, although I didn't use magic with them much (and when I did I usually used the ogre one). The only thing I didn't like about them was the combat grapple didn't work on most bosses.
naughtydoggus
Man, I need to play Chains of Olympus now.

Another episode and another reason this is one of the best shows on the interwebs for gamers.
The discussion of God of War 3 actually made me jealous of PS3 owners for the first time. Hearing all the "spoilers" they discussed made me wanna play it even more. Knowing the ending rarely bothers me with video games. All my enjoyment comes from getting to the end. They can slap together whatever thy want at that point.
Also, 3-D will be the ruin of video games. it is the Dark Side. Do not go down the Dark Side. Wait till 3-D is actually 3-D(if that ever happens), not a fuzzy screen and a pair of goofy glasses. On the bright side for Nintendo, this does give them another hand held to milk for everything it's worth with redundant relaunches of slightly modified versions.

one example of 3d tech with no glasses

Really_another_Sequel?
I enjoyed the ending of God of War 3. I loved how Kratos with the help of Pandora (with the hope at the bottom of Pandora's Box/Jar) saved himself from being completely consumed by revenge. I mean he still kills Zeus because that was his ultimate goal, and ends his life, but I felt they pulled it off really well. When he said "My revenge ends now" and he ends his life to release the hope within himself to the world was a really great moment in the game franchise to me. It reminded me a lot with Greek Tragedies, but with a spin on the suicide being more about salvation from revenge rather then just depression or preservtion of one's honor.

I haven't even started GoWIII(kinda sad since I had it since it came out) so I guess I'll get back to this when I finish

yes we should all expect the god of franchise to rebirth maybe in the next gen of consoles, and include something of Kratos' twin brother, can't wait as this would epic since not too many well known gods are left

This was a GREAT EP. I did not realize that so much happened in Chainz i will havew to go borrow it from a friend now. Idk how i feel about the end game with the character i just kill EVERYTHING and i loved it but was like this guy dosen't desrve his redemp[tion i am replaying it since i want to plat it and will look at the way he talks.
BTW the interaction between Hephestus and Kratos where the some of the best dialogue in the game
3D is annoying me it was good n avatar because it wasn't stupid even Mike BAY says no i don't like it and its the king of explosions himself saying that

@Lawrence123
The "other ONE" Zeus is referring to is very likely and highly suspected to be the brother that was mentioned in a God of War (meaning the first game in the series) unlocked treasure "Birth of the Beast." In fact the God of War Collection rewards a trophy, "Legend of the Twins," for watching the video. My guess? Spartans stand tall...
