We desperately wanted to talk about God of War III on last week's episode of Feedback, but the Game Developers Conference prevented some us from, uh, progressing very far past the title screen. Adam Sessler, Abbie Heppe, Matt Keil and I all managed to finish God of War III before heading into the studio to record this week's episode of Feedback, however, which means it quickly turned into an all-out spoilercast, discussing the game's ups and downs from the inside out.
As such, this week's Feedback comes with a word of caution: in-depth God of War III spoilers abound! If you haven't finished God of War III, be very mindful when we start that discussion up.
Elsewhere in this week's Feedback...
- Nintendo surprised all of us by announcing the Nintendo 3DS, a 3D-enabled version of their dual-screened handheld that apparently won't require glasses. Speculation drive, engage!
- We spend a whole heck of a lot of time talking about Sony Santa Monica's God of War III and whether Kratos and players found what they were looking for by the time the credits rolled.
- Our reader question of the week also probes into God of War III, asking us to consider what it's like when characters take unexpected turns, sometimes against the desire of the player.
Feedback, trying desperately to stop swearing in front of a camera since the times of Zeus.

I like feedback a lot, but can Patrick klepek not talk anymore? He just rambles on and on.

Dunno if anyone commented on this or not, but the "gold dust" is most likely a reference to Phiilip Pullman's trilogy. I thought this was awesome in that the theme was similar: destroying the powers that be, whether those powers are God and his angels or Zeus and the other Olympians. Rock on!

I bought my 37" LCD Vizio tv at Walmart for around $800 just two years ago in 2008 and I'm not one to be forced into buying a new TV next gen whenever that is when I just spent almost a grand already on a TV WTF! Once you buy that $1000 dollar TV and the $500 console next gen you might as well purchase a gaming PC instead which is way more flexible in all areas compared to consoles anyways. I feel like if the next gen of consoles are 3D then having to purchase a new TV two generations in a row is crazy I'll opt out if they do this and purchase a PC which will last me a decade and can do so much more anyways.

The problem with head/eye-tracking 3D technology is the execution for providing it for more than one person at one time (on one screen, with one camera).
How would that be pulled off?
Currently, its only for one person, yes?

Can someone tell Adam that I'm sorry for whatever I did. I didn't mean to be a douche... sorry Adam.

I hate cake too, I also hate the freaking analog stick sequences where you have to turn it in the right direction. In the previous titles where you had to kill the gorgons by doing that, I ended up getting so frustrated with it that I quit doing the button-press sequences and just killed them with the blades. I almost died on most of the parts where I had to perform those sequences in GoW III and that got pretty annoying. I love Greek/Roman mythology, but the stories in mythology are a lot more brutal than this game. Roman Mythology started with a rape (literally a rape, look it up). This game, I thought, did a great job of taking the mythologies of Greek/Roman culture and meshing them together and telling their stories almost perfectly. Most of the stories in the game are told in a great way that ties in to the rest of the game and they do it almost flawlessly.
I also liked the new weapons and the magic system. When I would get a new weapon, I wouldn't put it down until I received the next one. Especially the lightning whip :D
Also, the robots you're thinking of are called automatons.
I'm like you Adam, I couldn't figure out what the hell the dust was they were talking about. I'm color blind, it was ALL GOLD!!! Finally my strategy guide came in and I didn't have to worry about colors, just reading which I can handle perfectly.
This is one of the best games I've ever played, I'm very glad they tweaked everything, especially the puzzles.
P.S.- Cronos surprised the schnikes out of me....also, this isn't really the conclusion, the end of the credits scene shows that it isn't the end :D.....this is a very long comment...I felt bad for Kratos at the end of the game, but they're making the next game in hopes of answering questions

I love feedback, but i can't stand these interactive ads starting up all through the whole video. KA-MON. I know ads pay for all this stuff, but ads that play WHILE your watching something else!! That's bull-crap. Just start out with them, or even place them throughout the show, but not during the show while I'm watching. How annoying.

i agree and hope that the next gen isn't in 3D. To me that's just plain f-tarded. It's just something that wows us for a bit then it fads away. But then again it could be something big. It remids me of the old PS9 commercial that basically showed the evolution of gaming to where we are actually in the game. But I can promise u this...once Nintendo opens the door for 3d gaming sony and microsoft will follow suit. at first they gonna say nintendo just has a gimmick and it will never work or be popular among gamers just like they said with the wii. then a few years later sony comes out with a blatant knock off the 'Move" and microsoft has the natal. it seems to me the only one really trying to jump start revolutionary gaming is nintendo and by the time sony and mocrosoft catches up then nintendo does something else to revolutionize gaming.

oh dead god... please no next gen 3d... i wouldnt mind if it was a setting or a option... but its EVERYTHING is 3d no one is going to buy it. 3d is just a fad, just look at movies... a year or 2 ago not many movies were 3d and movies wont be much 3d anymore cuz everyone hates those damn glasses and its just a gimmik/fad

I only played the demo but after playing it i was kinda sad after it ended because i just wanted to keep on playing. the gameplay is so good and i loved the finishers. my friend and i pretended that the small bosses were teachers we hated. and when we ripped the eyeball out of Mrs. hurley we were so excited

my problem with GOW3 was for it being a ps3 exclusive it didn't use the six axis controls. I think they could have easily incorporated it into the 3 parts where you are flying up the tunnel or falling down, using the whole control to move would have been a lot more enjoyable than moving the analog stick. But GOW3 was still a great game.

Excuse me Adam... I find your comments insulting. I am indeed not a douche.

i loved the game. i played it 3 times in the first week of getting it. its a shame that the series is over but id like to see santa monica stick with the history theme. i think they could use the fantastic fighting system with an ancient Aztec or Mayan game. its hasnt been done right in video games

I don't know why people are so down on 3D glasses. I like them. To people who say, "I wanna watch 3D without the goofy and expensive glasses.", I say, "Bitch, go outside."

Well Done.

Regarding the 3DS. Have you missed out on seeing the various 3D LCD's that don't need glasses? They work optimally at a few different viewing locations. The technology does exist currently. It isn't some unknown magical thing.
