Earlier today, developer Starbreeze Studios (Chronicles of Riddick, The Darkness), announced that it had canceled one of the two projects they were working on for Electronic Arts. Now, Starbreeze didn’t reveal which game was canceled, but according to the Los Angeles Times, the game in question was a new title based on Robert Ludlum’s Jason Bourne series.
This revelation isn’t terribly surprising since it was either going to be the Bourne game, which is an average game series based on a movie franchise with an uncertain future, or the game that is supposed to "reinvent one EA’s most acclaimed classic franchises.” Gee, I wonder why EA decided to axe the Bourne game.
A source told the LA Times that the 10-year publishing deal inked between EA and the Ludlum estate established last year is still in place, but clearly, this move doesn’t bode well for the future of the game franchise. Starbreeze’s next game remains a mystery at this point, but the leading theory is that it will be a reboot of Bullfrog Productions sci-fi series, Syndicate.

That's too bad, I thought the first one was pretty good, looked nice with some cool animations, but was kinda short and repetitive. I still like the idea of games based on the Bourne franchise though.

WHERE IS THE DARKNESS 2!!?????? I've been waiting, it's overdue.....

They may remake Syndicate? I loooved that game! It could be really cool to see a modern take on Syndicate. I still get warm feelings thinking about equipping my agents with mini guns that destroy whole train stations.

I'd love to see another Bourne Game With a "Sequels Budget" and of course a sequels Improvements. The Bourne Conspiracy wasn't a horrible game, I actually really enjoyed playing it but a Reinvention is the best bet for the Franchise.
I'd love to see Rockstar, Ubisoft or Remedy Work on a Bourne Game!
Don't let this be the last of Bourne.
Until Then, It's Splinter Cell Conviction! I'm with everyone who brought that comparison up! Great Call.

wasnt there already a Bourne game?

I felt that "The Bourne Conspiracy" had potential, but no effort. The fighting gameplay was cool for the first few times, but then hastily repeated itself with every masked enemy you came across. Add to that a malnourished mash-up of the film trilogy and lifeless characters and yes, that results in a sluggish game. Maybe EZ just needs to mull over the title for a little while longer. The Bourne concept does have a good game language able to be translated.

only reason the last bourne game didn't sell was because the campaign was five hours long. Thank god I rented it because I beat it in two sittings

Gee I wonder why they would ditch the Bourne Game franchise as well. Sure resembles the newer 007 games but(looks at the Bourne Conspiracy stats)...oh that's why. Good choice EA, Good choice
