Super Mario Galaxy 2 Preview

This is a small, geeky thing to get excited for, but it made me smile.

Game Informer reports that Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be ditching the hub world level selection that's dominated the 3D installments of the platformer series since the hub world debuted in Super Mario 64. Instead, Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be relying on old faithful, aka the "world map" seen in the 2D games.

The world map was last seen in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Designer Shigeru Miyamoto told the publication Nintendo's making the switch to better inform players "where they should go next and which places they should go back to in order to get access to the remaining stars."

I still can't believe we're only a few months away from playing Super Mario Galaxy 2...
