If you've been trying to stay pure in regards to the upcoming Left 4 Dead DLC expansions, you may want to bounce to another topic. As you know, there are two DLC packs on the way, The Passing for Left 4 Dead 2 and one for the original Left 4 Dead which explains what has happened to lead to The Passing. There will also be a comic book which will act as a bridge for both stories. This is probably where you want to leave if you want to remain spoiler-free.
We already knew that The Passing was to include the original survivors from Left 4 Dead, but what we didn't know until now is that, you will only encounter three of them. ZOINKS! Valve's Chet Faliszek dropped that bombshell on GameTrailers, along with sharing the tagline for the The Passing poster: Nobody Survives Forever. In The Passing, we will meet up with the ex-foursome after one of their members has...err...passed.
We don't know whether Bill, Francis, Louis or Zoey make the cut, but the still untitled Left 4 Dead DLC will allow fans to play out the tragic end of one of our favorites. While the comic book explains the "idealized version of how it works out," according to Faliszek, it's unclear whether or not this actually is a choice for a specific character in-game. If the content is to be featured in L4D2, it seems as if it would be pre-determined. Either way, huge news for L4D fans and hopefully, we'll be able to see this in action soon. There was a plot to Left 4 dead? Oh! does this mean they are introducing a plot to the game.

It can't be Francis or Zoey let me quote from the L4D wikia which in turn was quoted from an interview with Chet.
"Ellis Develops a crush on Zoey." so Zoey is safe.
"Nick and Francis go back and forth throughout the entire campaign." So Francis is staying as well.
So either Bill or Louis will be missing. (since one of them won't show up at all.)

Ditto if you still haven't figured out that L4D2 is a completely separate game.
It's not gonna be Zoey who dies, I think we all know that. Louis could die because he's boring, but he's black, so he probably won't. Francis could die because he's annoying, but he hates everything, and that's funny. Bill could die because he's old, but he's a hardass, so maybe not.
My money is on Francis.

What I don't understand is why in the poster for "The Passing" the four survivors from the first game are in the background. Shouldn't there only be three of them?

I didn't stick with Left 4 Dead very long when I realized that I was playing a game with no other point but killing zombies, which I enjoy to an extent but I play valve games for more then killing, I like plot.
But now, even worse, they release another full priced game not long after to try and fix that fact and squeeze some extra cash out of me while trying to jam in new campaigns to try and add coherency and tie them together.

I dunno.. The last campaign for L4D was the one where you played until you died.
'This doesn't end well' was the tagline I believe..
They should all be dead. I don't like that they're not. (not that I don't prefer them more or anything, but c'mon - you play at the lighthouse until you die. they should be dead!
