BioWare took player feedback to heart for Mass Effect 2, creating a more streamlined shooter-RPG, and while the studio is promising to listen just as closely as Mass Effect 3 gears up, they're also expecting gameplay changes for the final installment in the trilogy won't be nearly as drastic.
"There will definitely be things that we tweak and modify but in some ways," said CEO and general manager Ray Muzyka to UGO. "I think Mass 2 was closer to the original vision we had anyway. Mass 1 was more in the traditional BioWare game sense where Mass 2 was a bit more evolved game. I don't think Mass 3 will be as revolutionary when we really streamlined the experience, but what we're going to do is refine it and make it even better."
That said, even BioWare admits it might be too early to make that call.
"It's all on player feedback honestly I think," added VP and creative officer Greg Zeschuck. "We are still gathering that."

The only thing ME3 could improve on is the level up system, give more options and variety in building/upgrading your characters instead of limiting them to 4 or 5 powers. ME1 was better in that aspect.

I think Mass Effect is lacking when it comes to the cover system. I always find myself "sticking" to the cover when I need to get up or getting up when I should be down. Gears of War is the standard when it comes to cover systems, and, while the cover system is very reminiscent of Gears, I just don't feel the polish.

I miss the inventory form Mass effect 1. Also, I miss the wide variety of skills that your player and your teammates had. It felt immersed and personal in mass effect 1, but that seemed a little lacking within mass effect 2's gameplay. Mass effect two is great, and i love it, but i think mass effect one beats in some areas.

favorite series ever made, but there is one think i would love to see.... friggen coop man, throw a buddy, either online, or offline into your 3 man squad, replacing a computer. how cataclysmic would that be? i would love that more than anything. =) agreed???? honestly, coop would add a whole new element to this already untouchable gaming experience!

I like both Mass Effect 1 and 2, but I would have liked to have had the option of choosing both my old crew mates as well as the new ones not only Tali and Garrus. Like when on a mission push up and i can choose Wrex or press down and choose Jacob or both. I hope in Mass Effect 3 there is a Timeline or black hole where I can play Virmire again and it depends on my skills, but I can save both alive and have them apart of the crew again. I really liked my crew in ME1 and ME2. I like my skills or lack there of to determine the death of a crew member not that their destined to die and I can't do nothing about it like in ME1. Why build a romance in ME1 for it to be ruined or broken in ME2? I hope the romance in ME1 goes into ME3.

Great game overall and it was a huge improvement over ME1. The mining was a bit boring.....let me rephrase that "very boring" but the side missions that came with finding an anomaly made up for it. I really liked the live fire powers system where you could use your powers with the L/R bumpers on demand instead of the power wheel.....LOL... Looking forward to ME3 and the new surprises Bioware has in store for us.

I liked Mass Effect 1 better than 2 also. I feel like the environments are smaller and the story is not as epic in Mass Effect 2 as in Mass Effect 1. I like the equipment and inventory system in the first one also.

Hopefully the add the option to toggle the text for those of us who don't want to buy a brand new tv just to read what's on the screen.

i feel like im one of the few who liked mass effect more than mass effect 2. ME2 felt a little bit too focused on gameplay rather than the experience. make mass effect 3 more explorative and make me feel like i really am in a huge universe and it will be an awesome game.

Did any one else s feel like some of the depth was cut out and it was too stream lined I felt like there was no exploring to do they focused on the shooter element so much some of the game felt shallow I really liked exploring the open part of the citadel and the unexplored worlds now every thing felt closed in and small I liked how there was loot every where and you never know what you would find there is still some of that just not as much and level cap at 30 come on now I hit 27 in 1 play threw next the achievements were way to easy it took a lot of time to get them all in ME1 and I would like to see the mako back but just for looking for resources and its almost 2200 in the game I don t think it needs wheels and that way it would not get stuck on little hills for no reason so then we get the exploring back now finally don t touch the combat this is what makes this the best game I have every played they got that part perfect so I would like to see more exploring vehicles more items to find (guns, upgrades, armor ) and more open cites

How about making it just a little bit easier to charge the Cain. I know it almost breaks the game but, man, that thing is awesome.
Also, Tali. Come on. You know we gotta see what's under those suits. You can say it's not the reason you romanced her, but it's the reason you romanced her.
I gave you $120. Gonna give you 60 more. Give me something. One quarian unmasked. Any quarian.
You almost have to at this point.
Just know, either way, you're still getting that other $60. Stupid BioWare, with your well made, well thought out video games.
Paragon V
Whatever BioWare, what i want to know is WHEN this baby is coming out. I wanna preorder right now!!!
silver6kraid
no need to fix what isn't broke, I don't mind at all honestly. Bring on ME3 :3
djboogymonster
I guess I'm the only person that didn't mind the mining portions. Not that it was exciting. But, I thought it was a good way to relax between firefights.
Things to change:
Fix the freaking bugs, I wound up stuck in a wall or ceiling four times during my first play-through. For such a brilliant game you'd think the QA would have been better.
I'd like more squad members to choose from. Make me actually choose members to recruit or not. Not just fill up character slots.
OK, done.
greyfish7
if I wanted to mine rocks, I'd play eve-online.
other than that keep up the good work
ManWhoWasNotThere
i only had like 2 problems with mass effect 2. for one theres no real reason to play through multiple times on one character, as the additional power is unlocked by achievments rather than having you actually earn it, and the fact that the level cap is 30, which made me go REALLY?!? both of those things reall shouted LAZY to me. other than that the game was awesome
ThePiousPriest
I do agree that this will probably head to PS3 after everything is said and done. It might end up on 1 to 2 blu rays, but it will be done. At any rate though, PS3, if they have a lack of patience should just pick up the PC copy. The visuals are better, the controls are a bit more streamlined, and the biggest negative (mining) is a bit easier to do. Nothing beats ME 2 with maxed AA and AF via CCC on a 50 inch plasma vs upscaled to 1080 and grainy textures ;) I'm hoping BW puts Wrex back into the 3rd one so I can have a dual krogan party.
PiercingNoize
I really want huge cities in space, with tons of things to do and explore. Annnnnd, to have threesomes in ME3... lul.
dracoraptor
Lets face it every game needs that screw up, BioWare can you add comic relief person to the ship that always seems to screw up just to laugh at.
Delphinium
I had no real problems with the mechanics of the first game, but ME2 was an improvement.
The only area that bothered me in Mass Effect 2 was that almost every character had family issues. Miranda hates her father, Thane's kid hates/hated him, Samara has to kill her kid, both Tali and Jacob's fathers did horrible things they don't want to remember them by. The quests were fun gameplay wise, but the whole evil parents thing? got a little old.
