BioWare’s Dragon Age: Origins 2 won’t be the only mature fantasy RPG on the market next year, as Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has revealed that it is working on a new action role-playing game based on the world of The Lord of the Rings.
The Lord of the Rings: War in the North is described as a “mature RPG” that “advances the RPG paradigm through innovative online, interdependent co-op play for up to three players who form their own Fellowship to fight Sauron’s forces in the North.”
“Utilizing the award-winning and passionate development team at Snowblind Studios,” Warner. Bros. Interactive president Martin Tremblay said in a statement, “we are looking to evolve the RPG experience and deliver The Lord of the Rings game fans have been waiting for.”
The Lord of the Rings: War in the North will rage on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2011.

What they need to be making is a lord of the rings: battle for middle earth 3. That would be a well deserved sequel to two very good games.

Sounds...interesting, if they can keep it fun and exciting....the LOTR games on the last generation that I played were lame only because they were trying to mimic the movie while trying to make a challenging game and really just made a frustrating experience that really had me wishing for a FUN challenge. Conquest should have been set up like Dead Rising or Bad Company where you die and die and die to progress, rather than 3 lives for the parts of the game that were not as satisfying as later levels.

Finally, if this is the same "project' that everyone thought was going to be based around The White Council then, this project has been in production for YEARS and they are only now getting an announcement out.

We don't need a lotr game, I mean they're sometimes good but really come on. Look a Oblivion it was released years ago and nothing has came close to it. How about Oblivion & Assassin's Creed had a baby and that baby did it with Dragon Age...Perfect RPG?
Really_another_Sequel?
I think J.R.R. Tolkien's world is an epic that can't be fully mastered my movies or videogames, but I always hope for the best. They always do good, well except Conquest, that game well made me really sad.

I'm a sucker for LOTR, so I'll be watching for this game. It has good potential
